“A walking, talking Kyoto-Osaka GPS with charm!”
We had the pleasure of working with Takashi as the tour guide for a family of 8 pax during their 6-days visit to Kyoto and Osaka. Takashi did an outstanding job throughout the entire trip. He provided clear, insightful explanations of all the key cultural and historical sites, and ensured that the family was always on time for each scheduled visit. His organization skills were excellent — from coordinating logistics to securing reservations at excellent, authentic local restaurants. He was consistently punctual, approachable, and always available to assist with anything the guests needed. It's clear that Takashi is passionate about what he does, and it really showed in the way he took care of every detail. We’re very happy with the experience he delivered — professional, warm, and truly reliable. Highly recommended and 10/10!

“Excellent guide for 4 days!”
Our group of 9 (2 families, 4 adults, 2 teens, 3 kids) spent 4 days with Mr. Kazu as our guide in Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Himeji/Kobe June 15-18. He was able to arrange the requested van for our day in Kyoto and guided us through train use the other days. He was highly organized and made sure we were able to see all of the planned sites. He made us a reservation for an absolutely outstanding kobe restaurant in Kobe and confirmed to make sure everything was set. We definitely would have floundered to choose the best restaurant option without him. Mr. Kazu had great recommendations and was highly receptive to our planning requests as well as on-the-spot preferences. Our entire group had an amazing time and we would highly recommend Mr. Kazu as a guide for anything in that broad area!

“We had a perfect day! Highly recommend Kaz!”
Thank you Kaz for our perfect day. This was our first visit to Kyoto and our fifth/last day. We wanted to visit Rokuon-ji Kinkaku (Golden Pavilion) but we also wanted to see some different things with a more local experience. Kaz was so patient with us as we decided on our day and then she found us the most wonderful little art gallery, textile museum and coffee place. We enjoyed her company so much that by the time we were strolling through shopping arcades after lunch, we were chatting like old friends. A perfect day to end our stay in Kyoto and we learned a lot about this beautiful city. A memorable day for us!

Absolutely! Kyoto has achieved the perfect balance of remaining close to its historical roots as Japan's original capital, rich in culture and customs, while including modern conveniences and tourist-friendly services. It's one of Japan's most tour-conscious cities, next to Tokyo.
That's a tough one! Kyoto has history, slow living, and breathtaking landscapes. Osaka has fantastic food and modern conveniences and is slightly more affordable.
Osaka is great for;
Kyoto is ideal for;
The greatest thing about these two cities is that they're just a train ride away from one another. So whichever you decide, the other option is only 15 minutes away.
Kyoto is often considered more beautiful than Tokyo because of the visually stunning architecture and Edo period buildings, especially those that highlight the nagare-zukuri style. It’s almost like a time machine. City lovers will consider Tokyo more beautiful thanks to its glowing billboards, high-end hotels, buzzing restaurants, and nightlife. Our recommendation? See both and decide for yourself. Tokyo and Kyoto are only 2 hours apart.
