Kanazawa 8h tour of Samurai Culture

KANAZAWA CASTLE The donjon was　burnt out in 1602 and only one of the gates was reconstructed in 1788 and given one star by Michen. Other two gates together with long fortess were rebuilt after the year of 2000. However a remarkable thing is that they were built using traditional architectual technique exactly following to the original blueprinsts which were remained intact.
ROOT RAISED PAIN TREE One of the attraction in the Kenrokuen garden. The 185 years old pain tree showing big roots on the foot　and still keeping good balance as a big tree. How has it been grown? It will be explained when we visit there.
KENROKUEN GARDEN Kenrokuen means a garden Equipped with Six Conditions to be a completed one, i.e., Spaciousness,　Seclusion, Artifice, Antiquity, Running water and Broad vision. It is said to be One of the Three Most Beautiful Garden in　Japan and given THREE STARS by Michelin Guide Book.
EXPENSIVE LOCAL SPECIALITY Due to the reason that Maeda family of Kanazawa was the second richest clan following to　Tokugawa Shogunate, they had to make money to respond to requests from the top one. One of the solusion was making Expensive Local Speciality such as Japanese lacquerware, Kutani porcelain, Slk deying etc. Among of them, the most　expensive one was GOLD-LEAF for decoration use . Even now 99% of it's demand is supplied from Kanazawa City.
HIGASHIYAMA GEISHA-HOUSE DISTRICT Feudal lord, Maeda of Kanazawa sticked to preserve the traditional performance art and built three high-end Geisha-House districts in around 1820,which are still showing those days. The inside of some houses　can be seen even in the daytime. In the restricted time of a year, they show the Geisha Performance at the reasonable price.
KANAZAWA　STATION Selected as one of the 14 World's Most Beautiful Train Stations by Travel & Leisure. The wooden gate　symbolizing hand-drum is a main entrance of Kanazawa, the time-honored castle town of Samurai culture such as Kenrokuen garden, Higashiyama Geisha house district and Nagamachi Samurai-house streets and other places which are still remaining intact.

3. Kenrokuen Garden : The garden equipped with six conditions to be a completed one. One of the three most beautiful stroll-type-

Japanese garden. (Three stars by Michelin) Entrance fee : 310yen/p but no charge for over 65 yrs old

4. Kanazawa Castle precincit : Except one original gate(one star by Michelin), other two gates together with a long house of fortres

were beautifully reconstructed using traditional architectual technique. The precinct leads to another beautiful Three-Dementional

-Garden originally made for the Maeda family only. Entrance fee by option for the long-house with turret : 310yen/p

but no charge for over 65 yrs old.

5.We are almost at lunch area. My recomendation is a Couter-Tempura-lunch unless otherwise specific requirements.

6. Nagamachi Samurai-House district : Not like the other castle town , Samurai here were permitted to live out side of the castle

precinct. We can see the narrow streets of mud-wall remaining since feuda days. Nomura-House is one of them and can go inside

to see a nice private garden and rooms. (Two stars by Michelin) Entrance fee : 550yen/p

7.Myoryuji-Ninja Temple : No ninja lives here but this is the high grade Buddhist temple built around 350 years ago as a headquater

of the fortress temples. Lord Maeda, because of the position of 2nd richest following to Tokugawa Shogunate, he had been thinking

the way of survial but also thinking to fight when the Tokudawa attack them. In case of this final moment he built this temple with

different tricks inside. (One star by Michilin) Entrance fee : 800yen/p

TRANSPORTATION FEE : 2.500yen - 6,000yen /day for three using bus and taxi

I had a truly wonderful experience in visiting Kanazawa by using Akira-san as a guide. His knowledge, kindness and humour allows me to enjoy my visit in Kanazawa.
