A lot of things in Kanazawa are closely related to the history and culture. I’ll make it simple to help you understand more about authentic Japanese life, save a lot of time, and enjoy your stay even more.
In the Samurai District, you will get in Nomura Samurai House, a former residence of high ranking officials. The whole house is a work of art, and this is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of green tea while looking out over the beautiful garden. Also there is a small museum with swords, scrolls and other real samurai items.
Kenrokuen is one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan originated more than 300 years ago. You can enjoy the Japanese atmosphere of its beautiful landscaping at any time of year.
Kanazawa is said to be a treasure house of crafts, and here you can make your original souvenir. Other than gold leaf application, you could also try your hand at silk dyeing, making Japanese-style confections, a self-righting daruma doll, or a sand-blasted glasswork.
Kanazawa Castle is a symbol of the historic town ruled by the Maeda clan for nearly 300 years. You can enjoy the atmosphere of the samurai era with sophisticated and stylish stone walls, watch towers and gates.
Oyama Shrine is dedicated to the first lord of Kaga, Toshiie Maeda. This is a unique Shinto shrine, and it has an exotic appearance with inlaid glass and a three-tiered gate.
