I would like to take you from Shinjuku to Nikko. It'll take nearly 2 hours by train. I guide you Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Lake Chuzenj, and Kegon Falls.
Nikko literally means "Sunshine" or "the Light of the Sun" and is a popular tourist site characterized by the elaborately decorated Nikko Toshougu Shrine. It is dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu and It is popularly known as the "Mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu." The entrance of the shrine is called the Yomeimon Gate, which one can spend looking at all day because of its more than 5,000 sculptures depicting plants and animals as well as imaginary creatures.
Nikko has a lot of waterfalls and the most famous waterfall is Kegon Falls. It is one of the three great waterfalls. The view of water flowing straight down from the top a 97-meter cliff at the watershed outlet of Lake Chuzenji is spectacular. And you can have "yuba" for lunch. Yuba is a by-product of tofu and is the film that forms on the surface of soy milk when it is boiled.
Let's enjoy the Nikko tour.

He is so friendly and very knowledgeable about local history and japanese mythology. His itinerary was well preplanned. I would not have been able to explore all the places we did on my own. Thanks Hideo san!
