We visit World Heritage site in Nikko. Toshogu, the main facility of the World Heritage is a Shinto shrine established in 1617 to enshrine Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Edo Shogunate that ruled Japan for over 260 years until 1868. Rinnoji Temple used to integrate the temples and shrines in Nikko including Toshogu Shrine until the Meiji Restriction in the late 19th century, when shrines and temples in Japan were forced to be separated by laws. You will not only be moved by the magnificent and solemn architectures and carvings but also can explore the history of Nikko and learn the syncretism of Shintoism and Buddhism, which has been strongly influencing our lives in Japan.

very knowledgeable we had a great time with shoji
He was so helpful with everything and went out of his way to make our trip worth it he finished the tour and still offered to take us to one more spot because he knew we would love to go there! Best Tour Guide Ever!!!!!! Thank you again for everything Mr.Shoji
Myself and my parents first time staying in Tokyo. Decided to book a tour with Shoji, based on all his excellent past reviews. Shoji met us first thing in the morning at our hotel in Shiodome. Guided us through the efficient Japanese train system to our destination. We had an amazing experience going to all the various temples and to see the great Buddha itself. He even went out of his way to locate a yakiniku restaurant for us to eat at, as I mentioned that my father was a fan of bbq meats. Would highly recommend !! With some spare time remaining he even took us by Shibuya crossing before heading back to our hotel.
A considerate mature aged gentleman which was exactly what we required. The weather was poor and my wife injured and he tailored the tour to suit. We would thoroughly recommend him for groups or couples like us.
