The first state-established Buddhist temple in Japan,founded in 593 by Shotoku Taishi.He remains a very popular figure among Japanese people, his portrait used to be printed on the 10,000 yen banknote.
Isshinji Tomple
Isshinji is known as the Common People’s Temple
The ashes of over 20,000 of the deceased faithful are brought to Isshinji Temple each year to make into a life-sized statue of Amida Buddha.Fourteen statues in total have been made,which means that the spirits of 2.5 million people are honored in the temple.
