Shrine visit and Oharai experience | Yoyogi Hachiman Shrine
You'll have the opportunity to participate in Oharai, a traditional Japanese ritual ceremony aimed at repelling bad luck. This ceremony is commonly performed during significant life events, such as moving or starting a new journey, as well as during challenging times.
You don’t need to have any religious affiliation or perform specific actions; I’ll guide you on how to participate, ensuring you feel comfortable and engaged. This experience offers a meaningful glimpse into Japanese culture and its spiritual practices.
Additionally, if you're interested, we can also arrange experiences such as a tea ceremony, Japanese flower arrangement (Ikebana), or pottery-making lessons. Please feel free to discuss any particular aspects of Japanese culture that intrigue you.
Lunch
I would be happy to recommend places from my favorites! Any kind of Japanese food, such as sushi, ramen, or Japanese BBQ, could be an option. Let's discuss what to eat for lunch before the tour starts!
Shopping / Cafe hopping
To conclude our day, we’ll head to an area known for its small, unique shops and cozy cafes, which offers a different vibe than Omotesando. It’s a nice place to take a leisurely walk and discover spots that you might enjoy.
If you feel tired from shopping and walking, there are plenty of inviting cafes where you can relax and recharge. “Great insights, great day”
My wish was not to go to big crowded tourist hot spots. Maybe see some traditionell. And Fumie made a great plan. We were in a museum, two shrines. One a very hidden one. Ate great ramen, saw the oldtown of tokyo and had a tea ceremony. That all with great knowledge. She was able to told very much interesting stuff around that all. “A fun day in Tokyo”
Fumie is an excellent guide. We were in town for my wife's semi-business weekend. Since I haven't been in Tokyo before, there was much that I wanted to see on the one free day that we had. I was fortunate to have been able to book a tour with Fumie. She is very accommodating and with some pre-tour communication prior to arrival she was able to get a good idea about what I was hoping to see. We started with a visit to Meiji Shrine and learned quite a bit about its history plus the small details that can easily be missed if we had gone alone. Afterwards, we decided to just play it by ear and, in the end, managed to actually check off everything on my to-see list (Shibuya - Harajuku - Shinjuku). This, in spite of the time spent being sidetracked with my wife's shopping (lol). Seeing Tokyo with Fumie was more like being shown around by a local friend. She is very knowledgable, fun and a joy to spend time with.

“Super fun time! ”
Fumie is a great guide! Overall a really fun person to hang out with too. We went to Meiji shrine and Harajuku. She had a lot of stories and historical details to share with us, it was a great way to learn about the sights. She was accommodating with our meeting time, and helped keep my daughter entertained as well, and made lots of snack and dessert stops with us. She took lots of great photos of us too.
