Akihabara is Japan's largest electric appliance shopping district in Tokyo. At the same time this town is the Center of Nerd/Geek Culter, or Otaku in Japanese. You will enjoy walking the town and seeing a variety of Otaku culture shops such as manga comics, animated films, figurines and capsule toys. There are many maid cafes where the waitresses are dressed in maid costumes. I am sure you enjoy!

We really enjoyed our afternoon with Shinya! He was extremely organized and created the perfect itinerary for us that included karaoke, a maid Cafe, a tour of the radio building so that we could buy souvenirs, and so many other things. He made sure that we checked everything off of our list and also provided very detailed history on each of the things that we saw. He was the perfect guide and I would recommend him to anyone coming to Tokyo.
We really enjoyed our day with Shinya. We started the day by visiting the beautiful Meiji-Jingu shrine, and we learned a great deal from Shinya about the history of the shrine, Japanese history, and the Meiji period. He was also very helpful in explaining ritual and customs in the shrine and helped us appreciate the beliefs and attitudes motivating the rituals. After the shrine, we visited the Cat Cafe, famous in the guidebooks but which we cannot recommend, and then walked through Takeshita street and the Harajuku neighborhood -- a lot of fun people-watching and shopping. Finally, we walked over to the Omotesando district, where we really had fun looking at the extravagant shops, the beautiful people and the cool cars; and Shinya had helpful knowledge about some of the amazing modern comm... read more
Shinya was an excellent guide, responsible and kind, providing us with an in depth tour of Tokyo.
Shinya was a wonderful host, we spent half a day with him to help us acclimatise to Tokyo on our first visit and he was very helpful, informative and kind. He selected a schedule which met all of our family needs, we visited the ueno park to see the cherry blossom, also a temple nearby and the akihabara district. We loved visiting the hedgehog cafe and we spent a great first day with him. We are very grateful to Shinya for helping us to organise the exchange of our JR pass. Highly recommended!
Dear Naomi, Thank you so much for your nice feedback. It was my great pleasure for me to guide you and your nice family members. I do hope you have a wonderful time during your stay in Japan. I wish I could guide you someday in the near future again! Best regards, Shinya
Thanks to Shinya I had the opportunity to see a different Akihabara! He showed me the world of the “Otaku”. The magazine they read, the places they go, where they shop, and what they collect. We met some typical Otaku at the maid café (or maido kafe). There everyone is called master! We went on to the Owl café. This is a place to see. I was surprised that I could stand so close and touch some of the 25 different types of owls. Shinya is an excellent tour guide, knowledgeable, and speaks English well. He was prepared. He could answer all me questions extensively. Thank you Shinya! I am looking forward to joining your Asakusa tour in the future.
Dear Roberto-san I am very glad to hear that you enjoyed my "Akihabara Walking Tour". I appreciate your nice comment. I look forward to seeing you in the new future.
