There are 4 museums in Ryogoku area where is famous for Sumo wrestling because there is a Sumo arena. And inside of Sumo arena, there is Sumo museum. This is free of charge but while Sumo tournament is held, this museum is closed. The one you should no miss is Edo-Tokyo museum. Fromm items displayed in this museum, you can realize life in Tokyo since 1600. By the way, Edo is the old name of Tokyo. Everybody visited this museum satisfied 100%.
Sumida-Hokusai museum is dedicated to Katsushika Hokusai who is famous for Ukiyoe which is wood block printing. Location of this museum is about 5 min walk from Edo-Tokyo museum.
Sword museum is dedicated in Japanese sword. If you are interested in Japanese sword, it is worth to visit.
Out of 3 major museums, the most famous one is Western art museum which is listed as one of World heritage buildings architected by Le Corbusier. This area is nice area to visit even you do not interested in museums. You can enjoy various architectures and nice atmospher of culture.
In this area, there are 3 museums which are Mori art museum, New National museum, and Suntory museum. The one museum I recommend is Mori museum. This museum does not own any art and special exhibition is held time to time. Therefore if exhibition is not the one you wish to see, I do not recommend this museum. However this museum is located at the top of building which is about 200 m high and nice to visit the observation area.
Omote-sando area is famous for shopping. But there are 2 very nice museums; one is Nezu musuem which is dedicated to Japanese art and the another one is Ohta museum which is dedicated to Ukihyoe (wood block printing). I personally prefer to Nezu museum. This musuem is designed by a very famous Japanese architecture and it has atmosphere of Japaese tradition. The very nice thing about this museum is its garden. This garden is Japanese garden and you can enjoy flowers and ponds. It means you can enjoy Japanese art inside of the building and Japanese tranquil silence in the garden.

Hiroshi did a great job guiding us in Tokyo. He was very attentive to our needs given that we had a 1 year old baby with us and we had already seen many of Tokyo's attractions before meeting Hiroshi. He carefully chose the pending top spots and gave us a great experience explaining the history and context behind each location. Hiroshi is also very friendly and easy going with a nice sense of humor; my wife and I were very happy to have met him. Thank you Hiroshi.
Dear Fadi Thank you very much for the gtest review. I enjoyed being with your family. I was wondering how you spent on Jan 1 which is really a special day for Jaoanese. There are many other places to visit in Japan and hope to be your guide in future. Thank you again and best regards Hiroshi
Hiroshi is a very nice man and very good at what he does. We had a lovely day in the Hakone area , on one of the most beautiful days. Hiroshi was very patient and fair , when the forecast was bad, he rescheduled our tour for a better day. We really appreciated that. We understood that we would pay for his travel In Hakone, but did not expect any other surprise expenses. In fact I emailed Hiroshi to ask what was not covered in his fee , weeks before the trip. I was very clear that I did not want any surprise expenses. He told me there was the ticket in Hakone to pay for and that my passo card could not be used there. As we said good bye in the train station we were suddenly asked for his travel going to meet us in Yokohama and his trip home from Yokohama. We were surprised and felt t... read more
Susan Thank you for your revieew. But did you see voucher of the tour? If you see it, you will find clearly that my transportation cost 7,524 yen was NOT included in the tour price you paid to Triplelights. What I learn from you is I should remind the cost before the tour.
Hiroshi made great use of out limited cruise shore time, In an afternoon and evening he enabled us to experience modern, historical, cultural and aethestic aspects of the city leaving us so we left having felt we had been throgh an informed imersive day. He is a charming and likeable guide and we are most grateful for the good time we had with him.
Dear David Thank you very much for writing a good review about thr tour. I enjoyed a lot with you and your wife. Your interest to our culture helped me to search places which you may satisfy. As I mentioned Nezu art museum is a not big museum. However I like the place very much because of real Japanese atmosphere which the museum has. Please make another chance to come to Japan and I wish to be your guide again to show more of Japan. Best regards Hiroshi
Hiroshi was a terrific guide for our first two days of exposure to Japan, guiding us around the first timer must see locations in Tokyo the first day, and Kamakura the second day. His English was excellent. We had no issues with communicatiuon in either direction. Both days were fast paced, nine hours the first, and seven hours the second, so we fit a lot in. He was thouroghly knowledgeable about both cities, and Japan in general, so our constant conversation and discussion went from history, to culture, to politics, both old and new, and any and every subject between - very enlightening. Hiroshi was a delightful guide, bright, sharing, and good humor. He made our days a joy.
Dear Eric Thank you very much for your great comment. I think you had fantastic time in the cruise and back to your home safely. As I mentioned in the tour, I enjoyed the time with you a lot. You, your wife and your friends are wonderful persons and wish to see you again. You may spend wonderful holiday seasons. Best regards Hiroshi
