Yusuke T.
Hi! I'm Yusuke, a 30-year-old local guide born and raised in Nagasaki, Japan. I also spent two years working in Australia in the electrical industry. I love traveling and have visited more than 30 countries around the world. I also love connecting with people from different cultures and sharing our languages. In my free time, I've always enjoyed showing Nagasaki to my friends from overseas. Seeing them enjoy and fall in love with my hometown has always made me happy. That inspired me to become a professional local guide. Simply walking through the streets of Nagasaki is enjoyable. But I believe your trip becomes much more meaningful when you understand the history and culture behind what you see. I'd love to help you discover those stories and make your visit even more memorable. I look forward to meeting you and exploring Nagasaki together!

Yacco M.
Hi, I’m Yacco, a friendly and passionate local guide. I was born and raised in Shizuoka and have lived in Yokohama for over 30 years. For the past several years, I’ve been guiding international visitors in Kamakura, Yokohama, and Tokyo as a volunteer, helping them discover the rich history, culture, and hidden charm of these unique cities. Traveling abroad creates once-in-a-lifetime memories, and I would love for you to fully experience the beauty and spirit of my favorite towns. I not only enjoy showing historical and modern landmarks, but also love introducing quiet backstreets, seasonal flowers, cozy cafés, and delicious local food that reflect the charm of everyday life. What I enjoy most is comparing Japanese traditions with my guests’ own cultures and histories—these conversations often lead to deep and inspiring exchanges. As your guide, I’m happy to customize tours based on your interests, whether you’re seeking unique experiences, historical insights, or local flavors. Let’s walk, talk, and create unforgettable memories together!

Hello! My name is Yoshiko. I am a national licensed guide‑interpreter in English and Chinese, and I also speak a little French. Dominic W.
Konnichiwa, I'm Dom - nice to meet you! Originally from Switzerland, I fulfilled my dream of moving to Japan and now live in Kyoto. In addition to my daily Aikido training, I work as a private tour guide, offering personalized experiences of the city. Whether you're interested in one of the tours listed on my website or prefer a custom tour based on your interests, I’m here to help make your visit to Kyoto unforgettable. How did I end up in the Land of the Rising Sun? My fascination with Japan began in childhood and has only deepened over the years. I immersed myself in studying the country's culture and history, exploring countless books, and, according to my friends, was probably a bit too enthusiastic about it! I always knew that visiting Japan was inevitable, and it became a reality after I started training in Aikido, a traditional Japanese martial art. This journey brought me to Kyoto, where I completed a two-year intensive program to become an Aikido instructor. Having achieved that goal, I am now teaching while continuing to grow as an instructor, with the long-term vision of one day opening my own dojo. If you’re visiting my website, it means you share an interest in exploring Kyoto’s rich culture and history, an enthusiasm we have in common! I fell in love with Kyoto, and my goal is to help you experience the city in a way that will leave you as captivated by it as I am.

Chiu M.
Hello, and welcome to Japan! My name is Chiu, and I’m a British national who has been living in Japan for over a decade. During that time, Japan has become much more than simply a place where I live and work. It has become a country I’ve explored, experienced, and grown to truly appreciate. For more than 12 years, I worked as an Assistant Language Teacher in Japanese public schools, working with both elementary and junior high school students. This gave me the opportunity to work closely with Japanese teachers, students, and local communities, while also giving me a unique perspective on everyday life in Japan that visitors don't normally get to experience. I enjoy sharing the things that make Japan fascinating beyond the obvious tourist attractions. Tokyo has incredible temples, shrines, shopping districts, skyscrapers, and famous landmarks, but I also enjoy the smaller details—the history behind a neighborhood, the stories behind Japanese traditions, discovering great local food, and simply experiencing everyday life in Japan. What can I show you? Whether this is your first visit to Tokyo or you've been here before, I’m happy to create a tour around your interests. First time in Tokyo? We can explore some of the city's famous sights, historic areas, temples, and shrines while learning about the stories behind them. Love Japanese food? Let's explore Tokyo's food scene and discover some of the dishes and local spots that make Japanese cuisine so special. Most importantly, I want my tours to feel less like following a script and more like spending a day exploring Japan with a knowledgeable local friend. I'm happy to answer questions, adjust the pace, and tailor the experience to what you want to see and do. If you're coming to Japan, I'd love to help make your trip memorable and show you a side of Japan that you'll want to come back and experience again!

Japan Tour Reviews
Meg P.
“A Wonderful Guide Who Brought Tokyo to Life”
We had a wonderful experience with Shinya E. in Japan! He was incredibly respectful, knowledgeable and thoughtful throughout our customized tour of Omotesando. He took us on an amazing walking tour that included the beautiful Meiji Jingu Shrine, Nezu Museum, and Tokyo National Museum. His knowledge and storytelling brought each location to life, giving us a much deeper appreciation for the history, architecture, art, and culture of Tokyo. What made the experience especially memorable was his warm and personal approach. He made every place feel special and helped us see these incredible locations in a completely different way. We absolutely loved our time with him and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, respectful and engaging guide in Japan. He truly helped make our visit unforgettable!

“Tokomo was wonderful”
Tomoko was a fabulous introduction to Tokyo and how to get around in this big complicated city. She met me at my hotel and we traveled by train to the Imperial Garden in the morning and then in the afternoon she introduced me to Sumo! Sumo was totally new to me and I had wanted to learn more. She arranged tickets to see an afternoon of matches leading to a national championship. She knows all about Sumo and the matches were a perfect introduction to this lesser known aspect of Japanese culture. I should have had more days with her.

Tomoko H.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review while travelling, David. I love sumo as you noticed, and I go to even Osaka and Nagoya when I get tickets; although this time I ended up involving you for nearly the half of the day’s tour, I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you very much for sending me so many photographs of ukiyo-e depicting sumo. I was also delighted that you visited the Tokyo National Museum the following day and were able to rediscover and gain a deeper understanding of the traditions and joys of sumo. Tomorrow is the tournament's final day. Well, I wonder which of the two wrestlers with three losses will win the title. I'm planning to cheer them on on the telly. If the timing’s right, why don’t you have a look at NHK’s sumo broadcasts too? Thank you again!- Tomoko
