Recently Japanese horses are getting strong. Some horses run in overseas prestigious races like Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Horse racing is getting popular among Japanese people and would be the most typical gamble. You will enjoy not only horse racing itself but also watching how Japanese people are distracted on weekend. In case of a tour to the horse racing course, it is possible to see inside race course as general amusement place for Japanese people. In case of visiting WINS, you can choose Off-Track Betting Facilities near your hotel.
If you are lucky, you will get money (but it is NOT guaranteed).
In spring, autumn and winter, JRA horse races are held in Tokyo area in either Tokyo Racecourse (Fuchu, west of Tokyo) or Nakayama Racecourse (Funabashi, Chiba).
In summer, JRA horse races are held in local sites in Japan and this tour is done by visiting one of the Off-Track Betting Facilities (WINS) in Tokyo (or Yokohama) near your hotel.
Detailed information on schedule of JRA races can be obtained from JRA English web site.
This tour is basically available on every Saturday and Sunday, but also sometimes on Monday of national holiday when JRA (Japan Racing Association) horse race is held.
If your hotel is located in 23 wards of Tokyo, pick-up fee to the hotel is free.
Tours are basically done by using public transportation like trains and subways.
Hello. Thank you for your interest in Japan. I am a tour guide living in central Tokyo area. My hobby is travel, taking photos, watching sports, etc. I have visited more than thirty countries on business or vacation. While I was in overseas countries, I encountered a lot of troubles. But many people at my travel destination kindly helped me and I could do what I wanted to do. To do something in return for their kindness, I became a tour guide.
As a guide, I have offered tours for more than hundreds of tourists all over the world. Each tourist has the different style of sightseeing. Through experience, I have got better skills to arrange the tour flexibly.
Your stay in Japan must be very important moment. I would like to show you unique aspects of Japan. It is possible to create a customized tour for you to meet your requests. Please tell me what kind of sightseeing you would like to enjoy. Feel free to contact me.
“Tokyo Tour”
We recently spent 2 wonderful days with Toshi-san on our first trip to Japan and he was amazing. A couple of the group were carrying injuries into the trip and Toshi went out of his way to ensure the pace was OK, checked regularly whether we needed breaks, and hunted down seats for us on the packed trains and subways. He checked the weather in advance and suggested changes to our itineraries to allow for forecasted rain, and helped us book our shinkansen tickets to Kyoto so we didn't have to do this on our own. He was extremely knowledgeable about all of the cultural sites we visited (Shinjuku Gyoen Gardens, Imperial Palace, Senso-ji Temple) and vary patient with us as we indulged in things that may have been a bit boring for him (animal cafes, gaming stores in Akihabara, shopping in Harajuku and Shibuya). His english was good and his friendly and helpful nature meant it was like hanging out with a friend or relative rather than a tour guide. The train and subway systems in Tokyo are a bit of a nightmare for first time visitors so we are eternally grateful to Toshi for helping us get around so efficiently. If you are visiting Tokyo and need a guide, look no further. Toshi is the compete package! Arigato gozaimasu for making our first trip to Japan so special Toshi-san. We really enjoyed our time with you and hope you enjoyed the small treat from NZ. Steve, Michele and Liam Armstrong

(301 reviews)Thank you for the amazing tour review, Steve-san. You had informed me of your injuries, but you could walk well. I was relieved. I took brief breaks sometimes, but it didn't affect the tour. During two days of the tour, one day was in clear weather, but the other day was rainy. Itinerary was changed so that we could do the tour of Japanese garden, Imperial palace and observation deck of the high tower on the clear sky day. On rainy day, we did in-house events like shopping of animation goods and going in animal house. We needed to ride longer distance of public transportation each day, but you were cooperative. Usually when tourists visit animal cafes or animal houses, I am required to wait outside. But when you visited an otter house, you also purchased my ticket and invited me to go inside with your family. You treated me as a member of your family. I really enjoyed guiding you Tokyo as if I walked with my old acquaintances. You created friendly atmosphere during the tour. Thank you very much again. I believe that you understand Japanese culture and tradition well. Please come to Japan again in the near future. I would like to show you beautiful cherry blossoms in late March or early April.
“A perfect way to see Tokyo in one day ”
My husband and I and our teenage sons only had one full day in Tokyo so we had to see it all! Toshihiro or "Toshi" made it exciting yet relaxed and we would never have managed to see half as much on our own. He's a kind, gentle soul who took great care of us and brought each place to life while capturing some beautiful family portraits along the way. One of the highlights was a sushi lunch together near the Tsujiki Fish markets and the many snacks we had to try. He was able to adapt the tour throughout the day based on our interests. We clocked about 18k steps with lots of stairs and subway rides so if you don't enjoy exploring on foot, this tour might not be the best way for you to experience Tokyo. We loved the contrasts of old and new culture, ultra modern areas and beautiful green spaces, and a lovely local to pack it all into one day. Highly recommend!

(301 reviews)Thank you for the brilliant tour review with excellent photos, Pamela-san. Your family has already visited various countries in the world and are familiar with Asian culture. I am really delighted that you gave me such wonderful comments on the tour. You informed me of your interests clearly, so it was easy to adapt the itinerary as you wanted. Your family members are all healthy and strong. You didn't use escalators and always used stairways. That would be one reason you clocked about 18k steps. It is true that this tour is better for people who enjoy exploring on foot. It is possible to walk shorter distance. Tokyo is an attractive city for people who love the contrasts of old and new culture like you. I would have liked to guide you Tokyo for at least three days. I think that you are now in the country side of Japan. Have a nice journey around the Japan!
“Tokyo made easy”
Toshi met is on our 1st full day in Tokyo. He was a lovely man and very knowledgeable. He showed us how the train systems worked which made the rest of our trip a lot easier. We visited so many things in the one day. I would thoroughly recommend taking his tour. One of the best decisions of my trip.

(301 reviews)Thank you for the outstanding tour review, Andre-san. I am glad to hear that my explanation of the train systems made the rest of your trip a lot easier. Tokyo has the complicated train systems. There are various kinds of attractions in Tokyo, I tried to visit as many places as possible in one day. I enjoyed conversation with you. Please come to Japan again in the future.
