Meeting Point
Shinjuku Station
Omoide Yokocho
The tour starts in the retro izakaya area Omoide Yokocho, the nostalgic alleyway filled with great places to eat, where the pleasant smell of barbeque, local dishes, and cheers from the locals inspires. We stop for food and drinks here.
Kabukicho
It's a short walk to Kabukicho, Japan's biggest neon-lit entertainment district, where interesting shops and characters will surely make an impression on you. As we walk through and explore this area the historical, social, and cultural aspects are discussion points.
Golden Gai
Next, we enter the Golden Gai district, a delightful eclectic maze of over 200 bars and pubs unlike anywhere in the world. This area also has an interesting post WWII history and is great place to have a drink and talk to locals.
Kabukicho
We continue our walk back through Kabukicho and explore a bit more as we make our back to the the starting point. Or guests can keep exploring and enjoying the night.

I came to Japan in 1998, intending to stay a few months, but enjoying Japan, I never left. I was intrigued by the history, culture, language, and food. And the fascination and excitement of exploring and learning new things about Japan still exists with me today. The variety and choices of things to do and places to go can be overwhelming. I can offer you suggestions and a unique perspective on Japan. I can share local knowledge about things often missed. Fluent in Japanese with a master's degree in Japanese Studies and living in Japan for over 20 years, I can be your guide.

“Tokyo in a day plus nighttime food tour.”
Due to bad weather Tim suggested combining our tours which was a great idea. The weather the next day turned out good and we had a phenomenal time. Tim rates my highest recommendation as a tour guide and was very knowledgeable about Tokyo and just fun to be with. Thanks for a great experience.

“Excellent guide and great introduction to Tokyo!”
My wife and I are visiting Tokyo (first time for me), and I wanted to do a private full-day tour to help us get oriented. I researched tour guides on GoWithGuide and elsewhere, and decided to use Tim for our tour. I’m so glad we did! Before the trip, I told Tim what we were looking for, and he proposed a 9-hour itinerary that included visits to Asakusa, Harajuju, Shibuya, and Shinjuku, with lunch, dinner, and drinks. Tim met us at our hotel as scheduled, and we spent a few minutes getting to know each other each other before taking a cab to our first stop in Asakusa. From there we took the subway to each of our other stops. Tim is originally from Canada but has lived in Japan for many years. He’s very personable and knowledgeable, and did a great job explaining the history and significance of the various sites we visited. Tim was always mindful of what we were interested in and we improvised accordingly, for example, by adding in a visit to the observation tower in Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building to watch the sunset. The venues Tim chose for lunch, dinner, and drinks were small interesting places that were all great. Our 9-hour tour lasted 11 hours, and Tim probably would have gone longer if we had wanted to. We had a wonderful day with Tim and learned a lot, and highly recommend him to anyone who wants to explore Tokyo. Tim also does a tour that focuses on Tokyo nightlife, and he definitely knows his stuff. Thanks for everything Tim!
