Savor fresh local flavors, meet welcoming vendors, and discover the cultural soul of Tokyo.
Tsukiji, often called “Tokyo’s kitchen,” is a vibrant place full of life and stories.
With a rich history of over 90 years, this iconic market is home to more than 400 unique shops—offering everything from the freshest seafood and seasonal vegetables to local delicacies and traditional kitchen tools.
It’s not just a market—it’s a window into the everyday culture of Tokyo.
As we stroll through the narrow lanes, we’ll enjoy tasting local favorites, chatting with warm-hearted vendors, and discovering how this special place has supported the city’s food scene for generations.
Let’s explore Tsukiji together in a way that’s both fun and deeply authentic—a truly memorable start to your journey in Japan.
【East Gardens of the Imperial Palace】 – Where past, present, and future quietly converge
This is where Japan’s past, present, and future quietly converge.
Once the site of Edo Castle and the shogun’s residence, it became the Imperial residence after the Meiji Restoration of 1868.
Nearby Kasumigaseki is now home to Japan’s major government institutions and financial centers, creating a striking contrast between tradition and modernity.
The East Gardens offer a peaceful escape—home to groves of pine and bamboo, stone pathways, and graceful koi swimming in calm waters.
Drawing on my experience at the Imperial Household Agency, I’ll share stories that bring the history of the samurai and the imperial family to life.
Let me also guide you to a lesser-known corner of the gardens, a quiet gem many visitors overlook.
Lunch
Savor a peaceful lunch near the Imperial Palace, surrounded by history and elegance.
【Asakusa】 Historic temple town since the 7th century – Step into the timeless charm of Edo-Tokyo
Asakusa is one of Tokyo’s most historic districts, where the vibrant spirit of Edo lives on.
With its views of Tokyo Skytree, elegant kimono-clad visitors, traditional rickshaws, and the bold Kaminarimon Gate guarded by a golden dragon, the area offers a striking blend of past and present.
We’ll begin with a panoramic view from the Asakusa Culture and Tourist Information Center, where you can take in the full charm of the district.
From there, I’ll guide you through Kaminarimon Gate, the Nakamise shopping street—Tokyo’s oldest—and the iconic Sensoji Temple and Asakusa Shrine.
Along the way, we’ll explore delightful souvenir shops offering fans, lucky cats, matcha sweets, and handcrafted treasures rooted in Japanese tradition.
And if you're curious, I can also introduce you to a nearby cat café or hedgehog café—unique experiences that reflect the playful side of modern Tokyo.

“Half-day tour with Romy!”
We had a great time with Romy touring the Meiji Jingu shrine! Romy was so knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the shrine itself and also about Japanese history. Romy was cheerful and guided us well. She made an effort to talk to each person on the tour to make sure they were having a good time (my daughter said “she is amazing, I learned so much”). We ate at a restaurant she recommended which was fabulous and near our hotel. We are so grateful that Romy was able to lead our tour.

Dear Jeff sama, Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful message. It was truly a pleasure guiding you and your wonderful family at Meiji Jingu Shrine. I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed the experience and that your daughter found it meaningful — her words truly touched my heart. Sharing the history and spirit of Japan is something I deeply value, and it means a lot to know that it resonated with you. I'm also delighted the restaurant recommendation worked out well — good food always completes a good day! I hope your journey through Japan continues to be filled with joy, discovery, and beautiful memories. Please know that you will always be welcome here, and I would be honored to guide you again someday. Warmest regards, Romy

“Fantastic Guide Romi san”
A swedish family of 8 had a great experience with Romy . Though we booked a sunday and unfortunately the inner market was closed she made a superb effort to make a perfect day for us. Thank you Hiromi from all us swedish friends
Hiromi N.
Olle san, It was truly an honor to learn that Your grandfather was the first Swedish that met Emperor Showa—such a distinguished and historic connection! Although the inner market was closed on Sunday, I had the pleasure of escorting you to a sushi restaurant instead. Your daughters were simply radiant—they shone like a beam of light. I was delighted to discover how much Swedish and Japanese people in common. Respectful manners and thoughtful sense of personal space reminded me so much of the Japanese spirit. Your Japanese pronunciation was truly impressive! Now it's my turn to start learning Swedish! One day, I sincerely hope I can visit Sweden myself. Please kindly extend my warmest regards to each of your daughters and Wife.

“Amazing day with Hiromi”
We had a wonderful day with Hiromi. We were a group of six Canadians visiting Tokyo, and Hiromi was truly exceptional. She shared with us a wealth of historical and cultural insights, while making sure we visited as many sites as possible. Her outstanding professionalism made our experience even more memorable. On top of that, Hiromi speaks excellent English and French, which made communication easy and enjoyable throughout the day.
