I’m so excited to have a chance to show you around my favorite spots in Kanagawa prefecture. I was born in Kanagawa. I spent my whole school life, including university, here in Kanagawa. I worked as a high school English teacher here for 40 years. I love Kanagawa so much. We have many interesting tourist spots, like Hakone, Kamakura, Enoshima and Yokohama. I got my tour guide license in English in 2009. I am still an English teacher. To give an interesting and impressive lesson to young high school students, I’ve learnt and gathered many kinds of information. I also have a license to teach social studies, so I have a wide range of knowledge about Japanese culture and history. I’m sure to provide you an interesting tour.

Hello! I'm Leandra, and I'm stoked to be your guide as we dive into Japan. With seven years under my belt living here, I've become your trusted source for all things related to exploring this amazing country. Whether it's navigating the bustling city streets or trekking through scenic nature trails, I've got you covered. I have extensive experience guiding excursions through mountains, inner city hidden gems, underground music scenes, and scenic day trips in the vicinity of Tokyo. When I'm not guiding, you can catch me indulging in my hobbies of digging into Japanese history, hitting up local shrines, lacing up my running shoes for a jog, scouting out new restaurants, or hitting the trails for a hike. Originally from sunny SoCal, my roots stretch back to both Japanese and Mexican heritage, with a sprinkle of samurai lineage thrown in for good measure. So, if you're ready to dive into the real Japan, away from the tourist traps, join me for an adventure you won't soon forget. Hi, I am Ryoko, a Oyama Area Licensed Guide Interpreter. Oyama is located in western place in Kanagawa and known as a sacred tourist spot for Edo commoners. Based on my experience working for an international company, I try to respect and have a dialogue with people from various cultures. I offer ideas for visiting spots together, eating, learning, and experiencing Japanese life in Isehara, as well as in the surrounding Kanagawa, and Tokyo area, which are difficult for foreign tourists to enter alone. Also, since I love books so much that I run a reading community in Isehara, we can consider plans that tie in with literature and legends. •Japanese History •Religions(Majored in Islamic culture at university) •Love to find good restaurants &cafe •literature

Just 1 hour train ride will bring you from modern urban sight to local cozy atomosphere. Mt. Oyama was well-known tourist spot in the history because of the symbol of sacred place and rich nature. Oyama dera temple and Afuri Shrine are the highlight of the tour and let you feel the history of the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism. If you want to go to local restaurants, I will suggest some good places around Isehara station.

Day Trips from Kanagawa

Kanagawa Tour Reviews

Wonderful first of three days with our amazing guide, Seigo!

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Japan that was highlighted by 3 glorious days in and around the Hakone area. This trip was made so wonderful and memorable as a direct result of having Seigo as our guide throughout. We were fortunate to engage Seigo for a 3 day tour of Kamakura, Hakone and Mt. Fuji, and each day provided highlights and memories that will last forever. This is a Day one review only as there is much to describe! Seigo arranged to meet and greet us upon our arrival into Tokyo at Haneda airport and we immediately began seeing and learning and experiencing all that the area had to offer. We started with a coastline drive past Yokohama and towards Hakone via Kamakura, which was an unexpected treasure. We visited the Great Buddha of Kamakura where words fail to describe its impressive size and beauty. We arrived just prior to sunset and got to see the Great Buddha in an exceptional light, and even were in time to explore the inside of it to marvel at the genius of its construction. Seigo was extremely informative of the history of the Great Buddha and took many pictures of us! From there we traveled to the Islet of Enoshima for a quick visit of this seaside town. We can easily understand how both Kamakura and Enoshima are destinations unto themselves worthy of a future visit. After a quick stop at a local 7-Eleven (requested by us) for snacks and use of a local ATM, we traveled to Hakone Gora to our hotel, again learning about the greater Hakone area from Seigo. All along the way, Seigo shared his knowledge from having grown up in the area and provided tips and suggestions to make our planned 3 days together memorable. Based on our suggestions and thoughts, Seigo was able to revise the plans for our visit to meet our personal requests. When arriving at our hotel, he was able to make arrangements for some of our other planned activities for us with hotel staff. A wonderful introduction to Hakone area!

Howard S.

Howard san, I appreciate the heartwarming reviews. Thanks to you and your wife, I also enjoyed our three-day tours. What made me the happiest was that you said you'd had a lot of fun visiting and seeing what you had expected and visiting my recommended places such as Kamakura and Enoshima. I hope you return to the area and explore it more. Seigo

An Amazing and Unforgettable Day Trip!

My father and I had the pleasure of spending an entire day with Macco, originally we were only going to tour Manazuru but after being informed there was a local festival going on in the nearby town of Yugawara we knew we didn't want to miss out. It was absolutely perfect, Macco is incredibly sweet and helpful and really made us feel like a local in Manazuru. She really knows everyone and made us feel right at home. It was a breath of fresh air compared to the fast-paced city life in Tokyo The food in Manazuru is delightful with some of the best fish we had during our stay in Japan. Despite its small size, there is lots to explore in the town (A favourite of ours being the shrine all the way up the hill, the view is gorgeous) and I have no doubts that no matter your interest Macco will be able to find something for you. The Yugawara Yassa festival was wonderful as well, it was so cool seeing all of the dances everyone had prepared and the festival food was delicious as well ^w^ Thank you so much again for the wonderful time Macco and I hope to visit Manazuru again soon!

Mia B.

Thank you for your review. I'm so happy that you liked Manazuru and enjoyed the tour as well as Yassa Festival in Yugawara. It was my pleasure to be your guide and spend a great time with you two. Looking forward to seeing you again sometime soon...! Best regards, Macco

Wonderful time with locals

I went to a summer festival at Iwa beach. Illuminated by the enchanting lights of lanterns and floating lanterns on the sea, I danced the Bon Odori with the locals to the sound of drums. Macco taught me the simple steps of the Bon Odori and introduced me to the locals, making me feel like a part of the festival. It was a fun, exotic, and very stimulating experience. It was wonderful to not only observe but also participate in a traditional Japanese festival. Afterwards, I enjoyed delicious fried noodle from a food stall. The evening ended with many beautiful fireworks launched from the sea, making it an unforgettable summer memory.

K S.

Kaori san, thank you so much for your comment and good review for me. I'm happy that you had a great time at the festival. Hope you'll visit Manazuru again for another unforgettable experience. Macco
