This tour is for people who love nature and cats! The island (1.25 km2) is absolutely not to attract tourists and is not commercial. Not necessary welcoming, it is an authentic and atypical Island in Japan. We can't buy souvenir, no hotel, we just to go Ainoshima and then we return to "Civilization" ( at your hotel)
Be noted that the trip (train / bus / ferry) lasted about an hour one way. Variable according to the schedules between each transport. (The total round trip cost is cheap around 1720 yen.)
it should be noted that the humain population and feline, on the Island has been declining over the years.
And a sterilization program for cats has been put in place to régulate the population. The Island currently has about approximately a hundred cats, and about approximately three hundred humain residents
Cats cannot live without human presence.(despite the signs indicating not to feed them...)
