Itsukushima Shrine & Great Torii Gate

Visit Itsukushima Shrine, one of Miyajima’s most famous landmarks, and see the Great Torii standing in the water just offshore. As we walk through the shrine grounds and around the island, I’ll share stories about Miyajima’s history and the traditions that have shaped the island over the centuries.

The view of the Great Torii changes with the tide. Depending on the time of your visit, you may see it surrounded by water, or, at low tide, walk closer to the gate along the shore

Daishoin Temple

Visit Daisho-in, one of the oldest and most important temples on Miyajima, set in a peaceful location on the slopes of Mount Misen. As we explore the temple together, I’ll share stories about its history, traditions, and the fascinating culture surrounding this special place.

Take your time to enjoy the beautiful buildings, peaceful surroundings, and unique atmosphere of Daisho-in. It’s a wonderful way to experience a quieter and more cultural side of Miyajima.

Lunch

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant of your choice. Hiroshima is famous for okonomiyaki, while Miyajima is known for local specialties such as oysters and conger eel. You can also choose from ramen, sushi, seafood, international cuisine, vegan options, and more. I’ll be happy to help you find a restaurant that suits your tastes and preferences.

Peace Memorial Park & Peace Memorial Museum

Explore Hiroshima’s history as we visit Ground Zero, the Atomic Bomb Dome, the Children’s Peace Monument, and Peace Memorial Museum. Along the way, I’ll share personal stories of people who experienced the bombing. We’ll learn about Hiroshima’s past and reflect on its message of peace for the future.
