09:20 AM

Kintaikyo-Bridge

It is a wooden five-arched bridge with a total length of 193.3 meters and is counted among Japan’s three most famous bridges. Since its original completion in 1673 during the Edo period, it has continued to captivate visitors with its elegant form, preserved through generations of traditional craftsmanship. Looking up at Kintai Bridge from the riverbed below, you can admire the artistic wooden joinery techniques used in its construction.

10:00 AM

Kikko-Park

This park was developed on the former residence grounds of the Kikkawa family, the lords of the old Iwakuni domain. Across the spacious grounds stand historic structures that recall the feudal era, including the Mekata Family Residence, Kinkaku Pavilion, and Kikko Shrine. Seasonal flowers are planted throughout the park, making it a lovely place to relax and enjoy colorful blooms all year round

Iwakuni Shirohebi (white snakes) Museum

The Iwakuni white snake has ruby red eyes and is covered in lustrous white scales all over its body, giving it a beautiful and mysterious appearance. These rare and precious snakes are shy by nature and do not pose a danger to humans. Their white color is the result of a natural mutation occurring in Japanese rat snakes. The snakes have been found since ancient times in Iwakuni City, where they are revered as “messengers of the gods”

11:20 AM

Iwakuni Castle

It was built by the first head of the Kikkawa clan, Hiroie in 1608.

This rare Momoyama Namban style mountain castle got rebuilt in 1962.

The old townscape, Kintaikyo bridge across the Nishiki river, islands on the Setonaikai sea, even the mountains in Shikoku island can be seen from the observatory on the fourth floor.

You can hike up to the castle on foot, or take the ropeway for an easy and convenient ride to the top.

12:50 PM

Lunch/snacks

Iwakuni is famous for its local specialty chirashi sushi made with Iwakuni lotus root, as well as for its incredible variety of soft-serve ice cream, with hundreds of flavors to choose from.

From casual eateries to special course meals that require reservations, options can be selected to match your guests’ preferences.

02:00 PM

Kashiwara Museum

The Kashiwara Museum of Art was established to share with you Japan's outstanding traditional culture and artworks, as well as the rich spirituality that has fostered this traditional culture. The museum shows you tons of collection of samurai armor from the Sengoku period to the end of the Edo period as a "culture of life and death.

An Unforgettable Day in Hiroshima with Kay.

Kay-san was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly kind, warm, and knowledgeable, and she made our day in Hiroshima truly unforgettable. She shared the history with such care and compassion while also making the experience enjoyable and engaging for our whole family. We felt welcomed, well taken care of, and never rushed. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience, and her friendly personality made the tour even more special. We couldn't have asked for a better guide!! Kay was a perfect 10/10! Thank you for helping create such a meaningful memory during our trip to Japan. Anina was absolutely right! you were the best tour guide we had in Japan! Love, Janet, Maria and Laura

Thank you so much for your kind review. It was a real pleasure spending the day with all of you. Now that the rainy season has ended, summer has truly arrived in Japan, and it was quite a hot and humid day. Despite the weather, I had a wonderful time exploring with you. I am truly grateful that Anina brought us together and led to such a wonderful meeting. Next time, I hope you'll stay in Hiroshima for a few days. I'd love to take you to some of the beautiful countryside and scenic spots. Tomorrow is your last day in Japan, so I hope you'll enjoy as many Japanese foods and experiences as you can, with no regrets. Make the most of your final day! I hope to see you again someday. Love, Kay

Kure: The naval history and her patience letting your son explore the museum at his own pace, closing with why Kay ranks among the most unforgettable guides you've had anywhere.

Our final day with Kay in Kure was the perfect ending. She walked us through the history of the ships and naval heritage with real expertise, making it fascinating for all of us. What we appreciated most was how she let our son take his time she happily allowed him to stay and explore and play in the museum for as long as he wanted, never rushing him, understanding exactly what would make the day special for a curious kid. That kind of patience and attentiveness is rare. We've had guides in nearly every country we've traveled to, and only a few become truly unforgettable. Kay is one of those guides. Her attention to detail, her thoughtful recommendations, her help tracking down what we were looking for, and above all the way she treated our son like family made these three days something we'll always remember. We cannot recommend her highly enough — if you're lucky enough to book Kay, you're in for an experience you'll treasure.

Our third and final day was just as enjoyable as the first two. I had been a little worried that your son might not enjoy the Yamato Museum and the JMSDF Kure Museum, since both focus on the history of past wars, but my worries quickly disappeared. I was amazed to see him earn such a high score on the battleship navigation simulator, identify the subtle sonar sounds underwater, and even carefully copy Japanese characters during the quiz. He impressed me again and again throughout the day! Over these three days, spending time with your family made me feel as though I had gained a truly adorable grandson. It brought me so much joy, and I will always treasure the wonderful time we shared together. And finally, thank you so much for the many gifts you gave me at the end of the tour. I am the one who should be thanking you—I truly can't thank you enough for your kindness and generosity. I am so grateful that our paths crossed here in Hiroshima, and I sincerely hope you'll come back and visit again someday. I'll be looking forward to seeing you all again. With warmest regards, Kay

Miyajima: The magic of the island and the momiji manju making that Kay made memorable through her translation help, with her warm, kid-friendly way shining through.

Our day on Miyajima with Kay was pure magic. From the floating torii gate to wandering the island, she brought everything to life with her knowledge and warmth. The highlight was making momiji manju an experience that could have been lost in translation, but Kay was right there helping us communicate every step of the way, turning it into one of the most memorable and fun moments of our entire trip. Our son still talks about it. Once again, Kay's way with our son made all the difference. She has a natural ability to challenge and engage kids while making them feel completely comfortable, treating him with the same care she'd give her own child. She continued helping us hunt for the souvenir we were after and offered thoughtful recommendations throughout the day that we never would have found on our own. Kay is the kind of guide who makes you feel like you're exploring with a friend who happens to know absolutely everything.

The Momiji Manju baking experience was a lot of fun, wasn't it? It had actually been a while since my last visit, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how beautifully the facility had been renovated. It was wonderful to see your son enjoying the experience, and I was also impressed by how quickly you picked up the baking (or cooking) process. Freshly baked Momiji Manju that you've made yourself always tastes extra special. One of the most unforgettable moments for me was seeing your son's smile at the aquarium. The video he captured of a stingray catching and eating a fish was absolutely incredible! I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to spend such a fun-filled day with your wonderful family. Warm regards, Kay
