Meeting Point

In the lobby of your Hotel

- I'd like to meet you in the lobby of your hotel, but if you prefer, we can arrange a different location upon request.

10:00 AM

Ancient beauty/ Floating Torii Gate and Itsukushima Shrine

The Floating Torii Gate is the iconic symbol of Itsukushima Shrine, located on the sacred island of Miyajima. The torii appears to float on the water during high tide, creating a stunning visual effect, while at low tide, visitors can walk right up to it.

Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was built over water and is dedicated to Shinto deities. Its elegant wooden structures, connected by boardwalks, are designed to harmonize with the natural beauty of the island.

The shrine and torii gate offer a serene and picturesque experience, blending history, spirituality, and nature.

11:10 AM

Feel the ancient breeze / Five-storied Pagoda and Senjokaku

The Five-storied Pagoda, built in 1407, is a striking blend of Japanese and Chinese architectural styles, offering beautiful view of the island.

Nearby, Senjokaku or "Pavilion of 1,000 (tatami) Mats" is a spacious, unfinished wooden hall originally intended as a Buddhist library, known for its serene atmosphere and historical significance.

11:40 AM

Enjoy local cuisines / Shopping Street

Explore the Omotesando shopping street, the main street of Miyajima, with many souvenir shops, cafes, and restaurants. On weekends and holidays, there are many stores lined along the street. "Okonomiyaki", "conger eel", "grilled fish cake", and fresh "oyster", etc. Local food will satisfy your stomach for sure. Plus, as a dessert, "Momiji Manju" is a must-taste.

01:00 PM

Walk & Ride / Mt. Misen

Mt. Misen is the highest peak on Miyajima, offering breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea and surrounding islands. Visitors can take the Miyajima Ropeway, a scenic cable car ride that glides above lush forests, bringing you close to the summit. From the upper station, it's a roughly 20-minute walk to the top, where you can explore ancient temples and sacred eternal fire.

The panoramic views from the peak are stunning, making it a rewarding experience for nature lovers and hikers alike. Both the cable car and hike offer unique perspectives of this sacred mountain.

Note: I'll be taking the tour using only the cable car.

03:00 PM

Temple wonderland / Daishoin-Temple

Daishoin Temple, located at the base of Mt. Misen, is one of the island's most significant Buddhist temples. Founded in 806 by the monk Kukai, it features a serene complex of halls, statues, and pathways. Visitors can explore its intricate stone steps lined with spinning prayer wheels, peaceful meditation halls, and beautiful gardens. Daishoin is less crowded than other Miyajima attractions, offering a tranquil escape where you can experience traditional Buddhist rituals and appreciate the temple's historical significance.

Profesional & Enthusiastic

She design a tour that fit our needs since the point that she received us at the Shinkansen terminal until the last step in the terminal at our departure to Kyoto. Took us to the places we wanted to visit, provide us with useful information and always with a happy and optimistic tone. Took us to a beatiful park, Shukkeien Garden, to view the serene place and is relation with the city, followed with a visit to the Hiroshima Castle, with appropiate information, including at the museum, all while walking trough the central city. We followed with a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, a must place for reflextion. Includes the visit to the Sadako Sasaki, a Japanese girl, memorial with the thousands of paper cranes in her tribute (died with radiation disease). Visit too the monument of "the mobilized students" that brought my comment about its shape, inverted pagoda?. That she was able to properly reply after engaging with the curator of ENTSUBA, Katsuzo museum. (I encorage her to publish the response). She took us to lunch to eat a Hiroshima original, Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki, that was delicious. Finally took us to the Orizuru tower, with a spectacular view of the Memorial Park, the iconic T bridge and for some time of light entertainmet. Overall, we enjoyed our time with Keiko, Kay, and will wholeheartedly recomend her for a visit to Hiroshima, she has a great attitude! My wife really enjoyed the short time we expend with her!!

Thank you so much for leaving such a detailed and thoughtful review. Explaining the aftereffects of the atomic bomb and its lingering impact to a medical professional like you might have been like “preaching to the choir,” but I truly appreciated that you viewed Hiroshima through the eyes of a specialist. Your insightful question about the Students Memorial — “Why is it designed with five tiers expanding upward (inverted)?” — gave me a new perspective as a guide. Thank you for that! I was truly impressed by your keen powers of observation. Once again, I’m thankful for the awareness and perspective you inspired in me. Please come back to Hiroshima again sometime, taking your time to enjoy it with your lovely wife and daughter. All the best, Kay

Amazing tour of Hiroshima.

We had a fantastic tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Island with Kay. We contacted Kay prior to booking to discuss what we were looking for in our tour and Kay was open and honest about what she could offer. We were a group of three adults and two children (11 and 6). Kay communicated really well prior to our trip so that we knew where to meet and what we would be doing. Kay’s tour was amazing. Kay was knowledgeable on the history of the area, making sure that we got a full understanding of Hiroshimas past, also making sure that it was appropriate for our young children. Kay helped us book a fantastic spot for lunch, and guided us on transport to maximise our time. Our visit to Miyajima island was a highlight, with Kay sharing her knowledge on the area. Kay was very engaging with our children, making sure they were included at each spot, she even gave them little treat bags. We can’t recommend Kay highly enough, Kay made the day very special and one to remember. Thanks

Thank you so much for all your kind and heartwarming words. Your two children are truly wonderful! I can still picture the adorable moment when one of them held my guide stick and walked along during the tour. Hearing about how you spend your weekends together really touched me — I could feel the strong bond within your family. I’m sure your boys will grow tall just like their dad, so like you, and become amazing basketball players in the future. I should’ve asked for their autographs! Please come back to Hiroshima again someday — I’d love to see you all! Hugs, Kay

An Incredible Day with Keiko on Miyajima Island

Keiko was our tour guide for the day and she was absolutely amazing. She shared a wealth of knowledge about every site we visited and explained everything in perfect English. Her passion for Japanese history and culture really shone through, and she made the entire experience both educational and fun. Keiko also has a great sense of humor and genuinely cares about her clients. More than once, she insisted on waiting in line for tickets so my son and I could rest. That kind of thoughtfulness says everything about the kind of person she is — considerate, kind, and dedicated. If you’re visiting Hiroshima or Miyajima Island, I highly recommend booking your tour with Keiko. You’ll come away with wonderful memories and a deep appreciation for this beautiful part of Japan.

I’m so happy to receive your kind review. Climbing Mt. Misen together was such a wonderful memory! It was a pleasant surprise to realize how our experiences of being exposed to both Japanese and American cultures when we were younger gave us a shared understanding of different cultures — and also a deep love for our own. Spending the day in Miyajima felt like spending time with an old friend. Thank you so much, and I truly hope our paths cross again someday! Hugs, Keiko
