Itinerary
This itinerary can be customized to meet your needs and preferences. Send me a message with your requests!
Meeting Point
JR Kita-Kamakura Station - East Exit (Yokosuka Line)
- We will meet at JR Kita-Kamakura Station (Yokosuka Line) / the East Exit . I will be waiting directly outside the ticket gates. CRITICAL WARNING: Please do NOT go to the main Kamakura Station. "Kita-Kamakura" is the smaller, quieter station located one stop before "Kamakura" when arriving from Tokyo. * If you accidentally stay on the train and hit Kamakura Station, please immediately hop back on a northbound train for one stop to meet me.
The Kamakura Alps Ascent (Tenen Hiking Course)
We begin our active adventure by ascending directly onto the rugged northern ridges of Kamakura. Along the way, we will climb away from the city crowds, explore fascinating medieval samurai cave tombs (yagura) hand-carved into the cliffs, and stop at safe, panoramic viewpoints for a professional DSLR group photoshoot with the coastline framing the background!
Hokoku-ji (The Bamboo Temple) & Zen Matcha Tea
We emerge from our mountain ridge descent straight into the serene eastern valley to visit the world-famous Hokoku-ji Temple. Here, you will take a magical stroll beneath 2,000 towering green bamboo stalks.
This is a primary DSLR Photo Zone; while you relax in the peaceful atmosphere, I will capture beautiful portraits of your group with gorgeous background. After our photoshoot, we will sit down together at the open-air Kyukoan teahouse tucked deep inside the grove. You will be served a freshly whisked bowl of authentic matcha green tea and a traditional seasonal Japanese sweet (included in your tour experience) while listening to the wind rustle through the canopy.
Central Kamakura Station & Komachi-dori Shopping Street
We walk 3 minutes from the bamboo forest to the local bus stop for a short ride toward central Kamakura (smoothly bypassing the main walking traffic)
PLEASE NOTE: While Japanese transit is highly efficient, sometimes traffic can cause slight bus delays. We will get off right at the grand entrance of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, Kamakura's most important samurai shrine .
Before I leave you to enjoy your independent afternoon, I will give you a quick, fascinating overview of the shrine's history and guide you through a final DSLR Photoshoot Zone right beneath the iconic, giant red Torii gate!
You enjoy Komachi-dori Shopping Street which leads to kamakura JR station at your pace
Ending Point
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine (Grand Torii Gate) - Central Kamakura.

Tour Important Information
• Required Footwear: Running shoes or hiking boots with high-traction rubber treads are strictly mandatory. Because Kamakura’s mountain paths consist of fine clay that becomes dangerously slick when wet, guests wearing casual sandals, flats, or heeled shoes will not be allowed on the trail for safety reasons.
• Physical Requirements: This tour involves approximately 2-3 hours of active hiking on rugged dirt trails with steep stone steps and exposed tree roots. It is not recommended for travelers with severe knee, ankle, or back problems, or those who have significant difficulty walking on uneven terrain.
• Weather & Rain Policy: To ensure your safety, the mountain trails cannot be hiked during heavy rain. In the event of active rain or weather warnings, the tour automatically switches to a beautiful, flat, paved cultural walking tour of Northern Kamakura’s historic Zen temples (including Engaku-ji and Kencho-ji).
• Professional DSLR Photos: High-resolution digital portraits are included in this tour experience completely free of charge. Your edited images will be sent via a secure digital download link within 72 hours of your tour completion.
• Accessibility Note: Due to narrow ridge trails, natural obstacles, and stone staircases, this specific outdoor trekking course is unfortunately not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
• Transit Preparations: Please arrive with a charged smartphone and an active Japanese IC transit card (such as Suica or Pasmo) loaded with at least ¥2,000 to seamlessly cover the local neighborhood bus ride and the Hokoku-ji Temple entrance ticket.
For Yokohama Hotel Pick-ups: If you choose the optional Yokohama hotel pick-up service, our official meeting time in your hotel lobby will be shifted earlier to 08:15 AM.

About Tour Guide Jalil E.
Hi, I'm Jalil ! I’ve called Japan my home for 15 years and speak English, French, and Arabic.
Let's be honest: you don't need a guide to read Wikipedia facts or show you Google Maps routes. Instead, travelers book a day with me for mental peace, authenticity, and deep local insight.
I absolutely love walking—it's how you truly learn a city and notice the charm of its tiny, hidden side streets. Spending a decade and a half living, working, and thriving in Kanagawa and Tokyo gives me firsthand knowledge of local networks and cultural nuances that algorithms miss completely.
Respecting your time and energy, most of my tours are efficient, high-value 4-hour experiences where I handle the "hard part" first. We will conquer the complex train hubs, bypass heavy crowds, and unlock local culture together. Once you have your bearings, I'll hand you a list of local secrets and leave you with total free time to explore securely on your own!
If you want a deep dive, I am always open to extending our journey into a full 8-hour day tour—just message me to scale the day.
With me, you get a trusted multilingual friend who understands your international perspective, expectations, and travel needs.
How I love to help my guests:
• Hidden Local Secrets: I guide you past crowded commercial tracks into cinematic residential side-streets, hidden 700-year-old shrines, and authentic local neighborhoods.
• Language & Etiquette Bridge: I act as your translator so you can comfortably eat at neighborhood spots with no English menus or browse traditional boutiques.
• Honest, Commission-Free Guiding: I never accept shop kickbacks or use tourist traps. My recommendations are 100% independent.
• Personal Photographer: I will gladly take nice photos of your group throughout our walk so everyone is in the picture!
I am fully flexible and happy to customize the pace, starting times, and locations to match your group's comfort. Send me a message, and let’s design your perfect day in Japan!

Kamakura Hanami Tour
One hour train-ride from Tokyo, Kamakura is a historical place where the first samurai government was established in 12 century. There are tens of beautiful temples and shrines in Kamakura. All of them have beautiful Japanese gardens, some of which are famous for its "Hanami", cherry blossoms viewing. I will show you some of the best "Hanami" spots in Kamakura. The date of full blooming differs every year. They usually start blooming late March and end at the beginning of April.
