Kanazawa is a beautiful city, well situated between the Japanese Alps and the sea of Japan. There is much to discover in Kanazawa but especially the gardens are just wonderful. Because it was one of the 5 most important cities during feudal times, Kanazawa had a real "Arts and crafts blossom" during the Edo-period. This rich heritage remained preserved until today. This tour goes off the beaten path to show you some of the most gorgeous gardens in Kanazawa.

This almost secret little garden is actually older than Kenroku-en and offers a perfect start in the day.
Kanazawa Shrine is a small but charming Shrine hosting a deity of scholarship making it popular among students.
Kenrokuen is said to be one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan. As a strolling-style landscape garden, it was created to entertain the important guests of the feudal lord residing across the bridge. Kenrokuen look always beautiful, each day of the year!
Kanazawa Castle Park is also called the green heart of the city. The castle was home to the Maeda family who ruled over the Kaga area during the Edo period.
Gyokuseninmaru Garden is a charming traditional-style Landscape garden.
The beautiful garden is also called "Music instrument garden".
The Nomura Residence's wonderful private garden awarded 2 stars in the Michelin green Guide.

Hello, everyone! I'm Lucy, and I'm thrilled to share a bit about myself with you. Originally hailing from the picturesque south of France, my life's journey has woven through the landscapes of both France and Germany, primarily within the realm of fashion and costume design.
My heart, however, found its home in the enchanting city of Kanazawa when my husband's career led us here in 2019. Since then, this city has not only become my adopted home, but it's a place I've grown to adore.
Now, guiding has become a source of immense joy for me. I cherish the opportunity to meet people from all corners of the world, sharing my knowledge about this incredible city and its cultural tapestry.
Beyond the guided tours, my free time is often spent in exploration. Whether uncovering hidden gems in the surroundings or immersing myself in the world of pottery, crafts or hiking.
I'm here not just to guide but also to connect, learn, and share the beauty I've discovered in Kanazawa.
Looking forward to our journeys together!

“A wonderful day in Kanazawa with Lucy”
We were a group of 8 adults all 60+ who all thoroughly enjoyed our day with Lucy as our guide. The Kenrokuen gardens are a must see. The Ainokura site was also a highlight. Lucy was flexible with any change we needed to make and very informative as our guide. She connected well with everyone and made it a special day for us all.

(5 reviews)Dear Barbara and friends, thank you for your kind review. It was a pleasure to show you Kanazawa’s beautiful gardens and the charming Ainokura village. I wish you the best cruising around Japan and hope to meet again one day, in Kanazawa or Australia.
“Excellent Kanazawa 101 tour ”
My husband and I had a wonderful time with Lucy this morning. Since she is from Europe, her tour is perfectly aligned with our (US) perspective and interests, and she speaks perfect English! Also she is super friendly and has a great knowledge of Kanazawa and Japanese history and culture. We learned so much from her while are not overwhelmed by too much information that could happen for a scholastic tour guide. So we highly recommend her if you are interested in Kanazawa 101 tour!
