The local history in Nagasaki about the damage by the atomic bomb
On 1945 August 9th, the city was damaged by the atomic bomb. In this tour, not only the atomic bomb museum & the Peace Park, some local places are available to vist. However, the Shiroyama elementary school museum is closed after the peace ceremony on August 9th, 2025, because of Seismic reinforcement work for a few years. So until the day August 6th, this school museum is included in this tour. (August 7th to 9th are not on sale because I'm an attendee of the peace ambassador for the ceremony.)

Dr. Nagai's memorial museum
He is one of the most hard-workers for the recover from the damage by the atomic bomb. He's also a devout Catholic convert, graduated the medical university of Nagasaki. He was born in Shimane, but since the university days, he kept himself in Nagasaki. As a radiation physician, a Catholic believer, a writer, and a father of 2 children, until the day I die from the worsening of leukemia, he did his best for everyone. Also, you can see his small house in the rest of his life.

Urakami cathedral and a cafe for breaktime
You can see both of the repaired cathedral & the miniture of the one after the damage by the atomic bomb. The cathedral museum is free for everyone. But the cathedral wants a donation of 100 yen per group by cash. In the cathedral, nobody can take photos or wear caps. This cathedral has a high slope, so if you have some injures on your legs or back, this cathedral should be skipped. In the Heiwa-area in Urakami block, there are some modern cafes, so you can have a breaktime if you need.
(Walking from Dr.'s memorial museum.)
The Peace Park
The park is one of the most famous places for this sadder history in Nagasaki. The park is free for everyone. You can see many foreign statues, wishing for peace, and the biggest statue from Nagasaki. If you want, I wanna show you a hidden small place next to the park, too.

The admission fee is free for everyone. So you can learn about the history as if you're a local. However, because it's too old building, so a seismic reinforcement work is necessary after the peace ceremony on August 9th 2025, and be closed for a few years. After the work in a few years, this spot will be included in this tour again.

About Tour Guide Yuki K.
In 2025, it's the 3rd year as a private tour guide. I speak English and German a little. My hobbies are knitting, handicrafts of earrings and keychains, writing & reading novels in Japanese, and searching for good cafes. Next year, I'm about starting to garden for vegetables and harbs. The main place of a tour is Nagasaki city, including the war hisotory spots. I'd like to guide you to the cities of Sasebo, Saikai, and Unzen, too, if you hope. But I don't have a driving lisence, so transport
while your tour is necessary. I'm good at a family tour for your young kids, too. I like kids, so I'd like to suggest some ideas for their playing in the Nagasaki prefecture.

Hydrangeas as the city flower & a hidden Garden in Nagasaki
[This plan is only in June because of the hydrangea's season.] The Megane bashi & the Kofukuji temple, as national heritages, are decorated with hydrangeas as the city flower of Nagasaki in June. The Mihara garden is in a hidden area, and using a cab is much more convenient than using a local bus. However, the garden established by a famous local man will become your favorite place! Ther're some important tips: It's necessary to wear sneakers or non-heel-shoes because of slopes and steps.
