We will visit the charming traditional and historical town of Shuzenji, located at the all lmost center of Izu Peninshula, the oldest hot springs resort in Izu, which is only less than 2 hours from Tokyo by train.
Shuzenji is discribed as "little Kyoto" that attracts many visitors from inside and outside from the country, celebrated for beautiful mountains, hot springs, historical sites associated with the Genjinsajurai clan.
When you are in Shuzenj, you will find Shuzenji very different from other hot spring resorts as the town remainds quaint and relaxed atmosphere of old Japan.
Because of this distinctively nostalgic and elegant atmosphere, many famouse novelists and artists such as Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Yasunari Kawabata and others created their master pieces there .
We visit very attractive spots such as a historical temple of Shuzenji Temple, Shigetsu den known as the oldest wooden structure in Izu and very elegant atmosphere of Bamboo Forest Path .All of them were disignated as one of the beautiful spots in Japan by "Michelin Green Guide Japan".
Walking through the bamboo Forest Path, listening to the sound of birds.
Why not trying Japanese Kimono?
There is a shop you can rent Japanese traditional Kimono ,and you can strall around the town.
When you get tired, you can stop at "Ashiyu"-foot bath along the revier, too.
Before leaving Izu, you may want to try delicious food in Izu, such as fresh Japanese noodle with the best Wasabi in this area, Sushi and others.
I can arrange your lunch for you uopn your request ! You will enjoy freshest seafood from the Suruga bay for Sushi but what is more fun is the time you share with the owner of the sushi restaurant. At the counter with its friendly atmosphere
you feel as if you were their regular customer!

The season of autumn leaves starts from the end of October till the end of November.

Greeting from Izu ,shizuoka prefecture, a city just 1.5 hours from Tokyo. I am Hiroko Inamura, a national licensed tour guide. I was born in Numazu and live in Nirayama, located at north part of Izu Peninsula, surrounded by beautiful seas and mountains, and at the top of it all, Mt.Fuji: a truly lovely and amazing Mountain.
I am lucky to see Mt.Fuji from my room everyday !
Since I studied and lived in Perth, Australia and Barcelona, Spain, and traveled over 35 countries, I am fluent in English and do speak Spanish that is very useful fie me to communicate with guests from abroad.
I love travelling and look for something different and special to introduce for my guests that they haven't experienced before.
Izu is the place if you want something more! And yet we Japanese seem to have kept it to ourselves: you see only few foreign visitors here!
Visiting the top and center of Izu areas, you constantly meet Japanese traditional and rural world , visit to a wasabi water-field, it's great fun!- and you can experience "wasabi picking " or "wasabi pickle making " during the season, you can do "Japanese tea picking" , ,wearing the special traditional tea picking Kimono! There are many more attractive sits such as Banjo Fall, Joren fall in Amagi and lots more to make your day memorable.
This area is great during the seasons of autumn leaves and cherry blossom.
And what you can't miss our on is a visit to the oldest hot-springs resort in Izu: the really beautiful Shuzenji. Walking around the town , , ,exploring historical and traditional sits and the grate Bamboo Grove Path remind you of "the good old days".
This is the town described as "the little Kyoto "and designated as one of the best visiting place in Japan by the Michelin guide book.
I have just mentioned a few of many other attractive places in this area .
I am very happy to introduce you what you can see,do and eat here in Izu and its surrounding areas and I promise you to have wonderful memories !

Our visit with Hiroko to the wasabi fields in Izu was an amazing experience from the moment we met her at the station. She was very welcoming and provided a warm, happy tour for our family. Everything was very well organized and she took special care to spend extra time seeing things that we were interested in. We would highly recommend her if you are looking for a special experience in Japan.

“Awesome day visiting a wasabi farm and tea plantation”
Hiroko was an awesome guide. We were travelling with a 4 month old and we forgot his formula. She brought us to a drugstore so we can get formula so we can continue our trip. It was a bit challenging travelling with a 4 month old but she made it easy for us. She did a customized tour for us, first to a wasabi farm where she gave us information on how wasabi is grown, then after that we went to a short hike to view a waterfalls. After that she brought us to a tea farm. Where we picked tea leaves and tasted green tea. We enjoyed our tour wih Hiroko. It was a perfect day for us.
