Asakusa
The temple town of Asakusa, has been popular for people from all walks of life for more than 400 years. You will see a lot of small shops selling traditional Japanese souvenirs and street foods along the promenade to the temple. The Buddha here is believed to make your wishes come true. The beautiful shrine next to it is an important national property, constructed in 1649.
Shibuya
Shibuya is a newly-developed town known worldwide for the ‘Shibuya Crossing’. Because of its wonderful visuals and vivid atmosphere, it was used as the location for some famous movies like Bio Hazard Four, Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, Lost in Translation, among others. The story of the loyal dog, Hachiko was made into a Hollywood movie and its statue has become one of the most also a popular tourist destinations in Shibuya.
Meiji Shinto shrine
After a 15-minute walk in the forest, you will come across a square facing the shrine building. It is surrounded by pine trees. Most visitors say they feel very calm and peaceful here. You can buy good luck charms from the shops or write down your wishes of good fortune!

I used to work as a junior high school English teacher for over 30 years . So I know about Tokyo a lot. One of my hobbies is Japanese history and finding similarities with world history is very interesting and so much fun for me.

We experienced both modern and traditional Japanese culture today such as anime and KAWAII maids at Akiba, swords and sumo at Ryogoku and a temple and Tokyo Sky Tree at Asakusa. Thank you very much for your wonderful review of my tour. Fortunately, it was a fine weather and a perfect day for walking around Ueno Park and Yanaka area. There, we could experience the traditional atmosphere of Japan such as Toshogu-shrine with old stone lanterns, Hanazono Inari shrine with many red-tori-gates and OISHII typical Japanese style lunch in an old town house...etc. I hope you will enjoy Japan as much as possible. At Asakusa, you tasted Ningyo-yaki and prayed your wishes. At Shibuya, you experienced crossing and saw a lot of KAWAII girls.
