About Tour Guide Kent I.
Hello! I'm Kent. I'm a master of Tea Ceremony and Ikebana, as well as a software developer. With over 10 years of experience, I've assisted with tea ceremonies at Zen temples and participated in Ikebana exhibitions for tourists, gaining deep insights into Japanese culture.
While I studied these cultural traditions privately, I majored in engineering and earned a degree in the field from Kyoto University. My days in Kyoto has made me familier with local lives and cultural activities.
After graduating, I worked in robot software development, collaborating remotely with colleagues in Michigan and engaging with clients and sales teams in Germany, India, and China. Their strong interest in Japanese culture and my background deepened my appreciation for Japan’s heritage, inspiring me to guide tours and practice cultural activities.
I currently live in Shinjuku, Tokyo, with my wife, enjoying life here. I’ve joined a robot startup and am working flexibly while continuing to guide tours. My aim is to share the rich history and culture of Japan through my tours and offer creative, immersive experiences.

“An Amazing day in Japan”
My wife and I have traveled to Japan before for business and pleasure. In the past, we were invited and entertained by the company I work for. This was the first time we made our own tour arrangements. I was skeptical about what our tour guide, Kent-san, had to say. Too often, you hear horror stories and claims that the whole experience was a total rip-off. To my surprise, Kent-san and the tour he led were outstanding. From the beginning to the end, he was professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and most importantly, flexible. From the beginning, we told him that we wanted a historical and cultural experience. We were not interested in doing any shopping. Kent-san adjusted his standard itinerary to focus on Japan's cultural and historical sites, providing us with a richer understanding of the country. He was able to give us a more interesting tour and additional time for picture-taking (my wife is a shutterbug) at each site. Throughout the day we spent with Kent-san, his humble and patient demeanor made it feel like we were out with an old friend and not just a tour guide. I would highly recommend Kent-san to anyone looking for a notch-perfect personalized tour.

“Personable and knowledgable”
Kent was an excellent guide who added a lot to our first trip to Tokyo. He communicated well ahead of the tour and developed a bespoke itinerary to meet our interests and goals. On the day he met us at the station nearest to us and guided us around many parts of the city with great insight and good humour. He was attentive, smart, funny and a joy to spend time with. Highly recommended.

“ありがとうございました”
海外からの友人が日本に来る際土地勘のない東京で会うことになり、友人に教えてもらったこちらのプラットフォームでKentさんにガイドツアーをお願いしました。 細かい行程リクエストに親切に応えてくださった上、豊富な知識で楽しく案内してくださり、大変良い1日だったと友人は大変喜んでいました。 茶道体験は新鮮な経験で、私もとても楽しかったです! ありがとうございました。 When my friend from overseas came to Japan, we decided to meet in Tokyo, a city where I am not familiar. Thus through a platform my friend had recommended, I asked Kent for a guided tour. He kindly accommodated all of our detailed itinerary requests and guided us with such extensive knowledge that my friend said it was a truly wonderful day. The tea ceremony experience was especially refreshing and memorable, and I personally enjoyed it very much as well! Thank you so much.

Temple or Shrine, Let's distinguish together!!
You may visit to the historical places when you come over to Japan. If you visit to Kyoto or other historical places, I highly recommend you to know the difference between the shrine and temple based on your knowledge. Tokyo has been the center of Japan not economical but cultural and historical places. I will take you to the place you can feel the time passed over 150 years with the urban style of Tokyo.
