What to Expect

In this two and a half hour tour, we show our guests the endless rows and alleys, twists and turns of Shinbashi, the salaryman center of the world. Known for its rustic izakayas and abundant food stalls, we help cut through the noise to show our guests some of the most tucked away places to grab some of the most satisfying food on the planet.

Starting outside Shinbashi Station, we begin our tour by entering the chasm of eateries overrun on a nightly basis by the working class of Japan. You are instantly surrounded by thousands of salarymen descending upon their favorite izakaya bar to grab a quick bite and cold beer before taking the long train ride home.

Not far into our journey we stop for a quick bite of Okonomiyaki, a savory pancake made by mixing ingredients like finely sliced squid, shrimp, pork, beef, and cabbage into a batter made from flour and grilling on a flat iron grill. Each guest will have one Okonomiyaki and a drink.

Once we are finished with our okonomiyaki, we continue to wind our way through the maze of izakayas and long alley of local eateries, we will head to another eatery that specializes in food from the south of Japan. This place grows their own vegetables and raises their own chickens so everything is extremely fresh. Here we will have 4 local food with a very distinct taste from this region of Japan!

Finally, we will have a special traditional Japanese dessert called Taiyaki, a fish-shaped street sweet food with choices of cream or azuki (bean paste) filling. You will have the opportunity to watch this being cooked in front of you. This is one of the best sukiyaki places in Tokyo, this is an all-time favorite!

Taking our time at the last spot and once everyone has had their fill we will end the tour back at Shimbashi station for everyone to head safely home.

Tour was outstanding

Our guide, Jennifer, was not only knowledgeable and personable, but she gave us unique insights into Japan, from the perspective of someone who has lived, worked and studied in both the US and Japan. She speaks perfect English (and I assume Japanese, since most people treat her as a native). She is articulate, uses helpful visual aids, and is not a clock watcher. After two weeks in country, Jennifer really helped us understand what we had experienced. Oh, by the way, the food was excellent. Jennifer is highly recommended.
