About Tour Guide Mitsuru(mark) S.

KON-NICHI-WA (Hello)! I’m Mitsuru (Mark)

I was born in Hokkaido, the northern part of Japan. When I was five, my family moved to Seattle, USA. That’s when my classroom teacher gave me the name “Mark,” and I also began learning English — though it was children’s English then.

After I returned to Japan at the age of eleven, I faced many challenges adjusting to a new environment. It was tough and it continued till maybe recently, but absolutely it helped me notice the differences and similarities between the two countries. These experiences have truly become the backbone of my career as a tour guide.

My favorite subject is Japanese history, especially Shintoism, Buddhism, and samurai culture. Since I also studied architecture at university, I enjoy introducing visitors to Japan’s unique buildings and structures.

Above all, what I love most is making your trip enjoyable. I want you to feel relaxed, safe, and secure throughout your journey.

“Perfect day”

Mark was very sentitive to our wishes. One big premise: as it was Saturday and a long weekend Holiday we asked to see as few people as possible. He did just that, for which we are very grateful. We saw an incredible garden, museums, an incredible omasake lunch and more away from the crowds. We were the odd ones out! We learned from his knowledge and how to get around a subway Station….incredible! Thank you Mark for a wonderful day in lovely Tokyo.

“Great tour! Highly recommend!”

We had an amazing tour in Tokyo with our guide, Mark! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s history, culture, and hidden gems, and explained everything in such an engaging way. Mark was also extremely kind and accommodating, making sure everyone in our small group felt comfortable and had a great time. “1 Full day in Tokyo”

We had 1day in Tokyo and had a list of sites to visit. Mark ensured we hit those spots and provided insightful commentary on buildings and cultural spots. Plus, we zipped through the train and subway stations with ease and always felt safe that Mark was looking out for us and our level of exhaustion. We feel lucky Mark was available for our introduction to amazing Tokyo.
