The name Chidorigafuchi come from the shape of the moat, which looks like a plover bird (Japanese: Chidori) with its wings spread into the sky.
This moat is the biggest one at Imperial Palace. This is one of the most famous cherry blossoms viewing spot where about the cherry blossoms of 170 trees can be found from late March to early April. “Informative and friendly.”
Our guide helped us navigate the confusing at first subway system which was efficiently run. Shinjuku was an experience and Kashima explained the history of the area plus introducing us to his favourite drinking hole. Even though the area has a past, we felt very safe there and had no problems. We finished at a Shinto shrine and paid homage to the gods. Overall, a very fun evening.
