About Tour Guide Tim D.

I came to Japan in 1998, intending to stay a few months, but enjoying Japan, I never left. I was intrigued by the history, culture, language, and food. And the fascination and excitement of exploring and learning new things about Japan still exists with me today. The variety and choices of things to do and places to go can be overwhelming. I can offer you suggestions and a unique perspective on Japan. I can share local knowledge about things often missed. Fluent in Japanese with a master's degree in Japanese Studies and living in Japan for over 20 years, I can be your guide.

Tokyo Backstreets Walk & Eat Night Tour

Fun, Unique Experience in Tokyo!

If you’re looking for an unforgettable nighttime adventure, Tim’s Tokyo Backstreets Walk & Eat Night Tour is a must. We chose Tim for his unique perspective as a foreigner who’s made Japan home, and it was the perfect mix of insider knowledge and a foreigner viewpoint. I think it’s best to not give away too many details and just experience it yourself. Know that you’ll be in great hands eating and drinking your way through some of the coolest parts of the city. It was the perfect way to take it all in so we could go back to our favorite areas. Tim went way above and beyond - we can’t thank him enough. Stop reading this and book now.

Tim was awesome, met us at NRT airport and got us situated with our transportation to Tokyo. After checking in at our Hotel we went to have sushi, then he showed us around Shinjuku, there was a lot to see. We went down memory lane and stopped to have some appetizers and saki, after we ended up at a bar in Golden Gai. had a great time, would definitely recommend to everyone! Thanks Tim!

If you want to experience the real daily life of Tokyo, rather than visiting tourist spots, this tour is perfect for you! Togoshi-Ginza Shotengai (local shopping street) is very long—1.3 km long. Sprinkled along its length are about 400 different shops. Togoshi-Ginza does not have high fashion or high-class restaurant ,but it is quaint, and representative of the typical shopping street, that most Japanese experience on a daily basis. Let's take a peek into daily life in Tokyo with me!

Tokyo Ginza Then and Now (Izakaya hopping tour in 3 hours)

You want to experience Izakaya like locals? Are you a little reluctant to drink in Shinjuku Kabukicho or the youth town of Shibuya? If so, I recommend Ginza, Yurakucho area! The area has some different profiles. There are deep izakaya alleys underneath the JR railways that retain a postwar atmosphere and also high-end streets where the district became first westernized after the Edo period. You can enjoy 2 very different types of drinking spots while touching about the history.
