About Tour Guide Melody S.

Hi! I’m a nationally licensed tour guide with in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture, history, and geography.

I was born in a suburb and raised in Tokyo, which gives me both a local and metropolitan perspective on Japan.

I studied abroad in the US and the UK, where I met wonderful people from all over the world and developed a truly global mindset.

Before becoming a full-time guide, I worked as an IT engineer, hotel receptionist, and manager of a maid cafe—experiences that help me connect naturally with travelers from many different backgrounds.

When your tour guy becomes your friend!

We booked Melody for a one day tour for our first time in Tokyo. We could not have been more pleased. Melody was prepared and open to any of our requests. He gave us a bit of history information along with cultural knowledge along the way. A lot of places we would have just passed by not realizing the fun to be had. We enjoyed lunch at a very local restaurant which we would have been lost trying to order.. it was amazingly delicious! Melody definitely helped us kick off our Japan with his many suggestions ( and our many questions) His English is excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!

Thank you, Ron. What a fun day we had together! I really enjoyed all the questions you asked about Japanese culture and history, and it made me so happy to see you taking notes throughout the tour. My favorite question was, "Is it appropriate to wear shorts in Japan?" During the tour, we visited Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street in Harajuku, enjoyed some delicious okonomiyaki in Kagurazaka (it really was amazing!), and finished the day at a maid cafe in Akihabara. I hope you also had a great time shopping for electronics afterward. It truly meant a lot to me when you called me your friend. I hope to see you both again someday, my friends!

Melody is an amazing guide! Book with him if you can.

Melody took the time and effort to put together a perfect introduction to Tokyo for my wife and me on our first trip to Japan. His guidance helped us understand how to get around independently on public transportation, he helped explain culture, customs and manners that gave us the ability to be considerate guests in Japan, and he provided inside knowledge only a local could know about the best places to shop and eat. He quickly and efficiently guided us around parts of the city we had asked him to show us with expertise that was both fun and informative. He is kind, patient, attentive, and his knowledge of Tokyo and Japan is impressive. By the end of our tour with Melody, the only thing we regretted was not having booked a longer tour.

Joe, thank you very much for another wonderful review! Even though you kindly extended the tour, I know you had a very busy schedule, so we were only able to spend about six hours together. I wish we could have spent even more time exploring Japan together. Please don't hesitate to contact me the next time you visit Japan. I'd love to see you two again!!

Joe, thank you very much for your wonderful review! It was truly an honor to celebrate such a special anniversary with both of you on your very first day in Japan. In just a short time, we visited Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street, the Imperial Palace, and Kagurazaka. I especially loved showing you Kagurazaka, where we were surrounded by locals instead of tourists. I hope you had an amazing time during the rest of your trip to Japan.
