Private tour (only you and Nicolas M.)
Up to 6 people

Explore the fascinating contrast of Tokyo’s history in just 4 hours. This private walking tour takes you from the bustling, brilliant medieval merchant district of Asakusa, through the cultural hub of Ueno Park, to the quiet, mystical nostalgic streets of Nezu Shrine.

Itinerary

This itinerary can be customized to meet your needs and preferences. Send me a message with your requests!

09:00 AM

Meeting Point

Meet at your hotel or Asakusa Station

- We can meet at the designated point (e.g., Kaminarimon Gate in Asakusa or hotel pick-up).

09:20 AM

Asakusa: The Spirit of Old Edo

We will walk through the iconic Kaminarimon Gate and stroll along Nakamise Shopping Street where, if you want, you can taste local snacks (like Ningyo-yaki cake).

10:30 AM

Ueno: Culture, Markets & Samurai History

Walk through Ueno Park, passing by the historic Kaneiji Temple structures and the massive Shinobazu Pond.

I will tell you the secret story of the last samouraï!

11:30 AM

Short Walk or Train to Nezu

A pleasant local walk through the quiet residential alleys dividing Ueno and the Yanaka/Nezu area.

11:50 AM

Nezu Shrine: The Secret Torii Path

We will visit Nezu Shrine, one of Japan’s oldest and most beautiful Shinto shrines that miraculously escaped WWII bombings.

We will also walk through the magical tunnel of miniature red Torii gates (a quiet alternative to Kyoto's Fushimi Inari) and enjoy the serene, lush traditional gardens.

**Special Seasonal Highlight (End of April): If your tour takes place in April, this stop becomes the absolute highlight of the day. The shrine hosts the spectacular Bunkyo Tsutsuji Matsuri (Azalea Festival). Over 3,000 azalea bushes (featuring 100 different varieties) bloom across the hillside in vibrant shades of pink, red, and white, creating a breathtaking backdrop against the vermilion torii gates.

01:00 PM

End of the tour

The tour ends at Nezu Station. I will guide you to your next destination, help you find a local lunch spot (like traditional Soba noodles or grilled eel), or escort you back to the nearest major station.

Ending Point

Nezu station

I speak French, Japanese and English, which allows me to communicate easily with both visitors and local people.

I offer private tours in Tokyo, Kamakura, Hakone, all regions in Kanto like Kawaguchiko, unknown places with a wonderful view of Mont Fuji from Shuzenji, Yokohama and the beautiful coastal town of Hayama. Whether you are visiting Japan for the first time or returning to discover hidden places, I will adapt each tour to your interests and pace.

Before becoming a full-time guide, I worked as a French chef and pastry chef in Japan for many years. This experience has given me a deep appreciation of Japanese craftsmanship, hospitality and attention to detail.
