The Imperial Palace used to be Edo Castle of the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period. This tour covers the Outer Garden of Imperial Palace and the East Gardens, which used to be the main part of the castle. You can see the main gate area called Niju-Bashi (double bridge), the moat of the castle surrounded by the long, long stone walls, gates, and buildings renovated 50 years ago, and a Japanese garden. About Tour Guide Yuki K.

I was born and grew up in Yokohama. I used to work in Tokyo for more than 20 years. I became the National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in English in 2013. At first, I had attended a volunteer group which provided a tour of the Imperial Palace East Gardens until 2015. I guided more than fifty times in the garden as a volunteer and studied about Japanese history and culture. Based on this experience, I became a tour guide of this online site in 2015.

Since then, I have guided more than 500 tours in Tokyo as well as Yokohama, Kamakura, Hakone, Kyoto, Nikko, etc., while improving my tours. My tours are very flexible and I always do my best to customize them according to the interests of my guests. I studied about the places and will provide you knowledge to appreciate them deeper than just visiting there by yourself or a member of big group tours. I like foods and I know many restaurants which provide typical Japanese lunch with reasonable price without waiting too long. Therefore, I am sure that I can provide you the best tours customized to your interests. It will be my great pleasure to help you to enjoy your stay in Japan. So please be my guest!!

Great Time in Tokyo

We are so glad we booked with Yuki! He was well prepared to show us around some great spots in the area. I loved how responsive he was to my questions before and during the tour. He also taught us a lot of the history behind each spot. Lots of delicious food at the outer market and quality time within garden and temple. We will book him again for our next trip.

Dear Taylor, Thank you for your compliments. The Sushi place is my favorite one in Tsukiji Outer Market. Please give my best regards to other members. Thank you again for taking my tour. Yuki

A good overview of Japanese history and culture

Had a great tour with Yuki. He was well prepared. I enjoy the iPad presentations of Japanese history on the local train to Kamakura. It was fun to learn about many culture stories and legends. Yuki’s explanation of the street food and souvenirs was very helpful for a foreigner.

Thank you for your great review of my tour. We visited the Great Buddha, Hase-dera Temple, and Komachi Street. It was a cold, snowy day, but I enjoyed eating street food with you. Thank you again for taking my Kamakura tour. Yuki

Great tour around Tokyo!

Yuki met us at our hotel and guided us for a really nice day in Tokyo. We saw shrines, temples, the Imperial Palace gardens, and even had an excellent sushi lunch. He took us over into the markets, and guided us back at the end of the day. Yuki was an excellent guide, and I would recommend him. We really enjoyed our time with him!
