If you're looking for a different way to enjoy the sights of Tokyo, try going on a cruise. Many of the cruise lines start or end near popular sightseeing areas, so you can try moving from one area to another by boat instead of the normal choice of train or taxi.

Tokyo Cruise

The most popular is the Sumida River Line or the Asaksa-Odaiba line, which both start in Asakusa, a popular tourist area in the older areas of Tokyo. Odaiba, is a water front town where there are large shopping malls, popular with the younger generation. They also have a sakura night-tour starting in March.

Tokyo Mizube Line

The Tokyo Mizube line is like a "water-bus" that runs from Sumida Azumabashi, a little above the Tokyo Sky Tree on the Sumida River, all the way down to Odaiba. You can get on and off just like a bus anywhere you like without reservations, and the price starts from 300 yen, so it isn't too expensive. You can get to and from Tokyo Sky Tree, Asakusa, Ryogoku (the town of sumo wrestlers), Hamarikyu Gardens, and Odaiba on this one line.
