“Recommend Toru for Yokohama and Tokyo Guide Without Reservation!”
Toru comes with an unqualified recommendation. For the months preceding our three-day tour Toru helped us fine tune a totally customized tour, which wrapped around going to see Japanese gardens, museums and eating our way through Japanese street food. I mentioned that we are both seniors. We don’t walk very fast, and I needed to stop regularly for “bio breaks”. He accommodated us throughout the three day trip by taking elevators and escalators rather than walking up the long steep stairs in the subways. He checked every once a while if we needed a break to rest. He skillfully navigated the streets to take us to the Tokyo sumo show we wanted to see, and off the beaten alley to blocks of small food shops, each specializing in one thing or another (eel skewers, raw horse anyone?). His English writing skills are like a native and we had no trouble planning the trip. His English verbal skills are good, as he has spent time living in the US. Tohru is exceptionally prompt, arriving well before the appointed time for hotel pickup, and spent time each morning going over our itinerary. He also made sure we found our way back to the hotel at the end of day for a true door to door service. We had a great time, and I hope you do too with Toru.

“Full day tour, Yumi is a treasure”
I had originally had booked a tour with another guide, but unfortunately he injured his knee and was unable to guide us. This happened about a week before our departure and it made us a little anxious but he worked with GoWithGuide to find us a replacement and Yumi was available. We were grateful that she was able to step in and she was fantastic! Our group was 2 couples around age 50. This was our first trip to Japan and our first full day after traveling. Our itinerary included Senso-ji temple, Akihabra, Tsukiji market, the Imperial Palace, and Shibuya crossing. Getting around the city, we mainly used the subway or walked. Yumi met us in the lobby of our hotel in Shinjuku and the first thing we did was go to the ticket counter at the station and helped us to buy Shinkansen tickets for later in our trip. She helped us to learn how to navigate the public transportation system throughout the day which set us up to feel confident and independent for the rest of our stay. I also appreciated her knowledge of history and teaching us the customs and etiquette of Japanese culture, especially at temple and shrines. Yumi was kind, flexible, communicative, had a good sense of humor, speaks and writes English well, and is everything you'd imagine Japanese hospitality to be. Her value is greater than the price we paid and I'd recommend her to my friends and family. If I come back to Japan, I will definitely contact her again.

Stephanie san, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for receiving the best review possible. Thanks to this review, I am now highly motivated to continue my guiding activities, and I will always strive to provide guests with meaningful information. In addirion, I was also surprised that you had researched Japanese language and various aspects of Japan in advance, and knew things that even I. I also enjoyed the tour with you all very much, learned a lot, and had a wonderful cultural exchange. I hope that this visit to Japan has sparked your interest in the country, and I look forward to helping you again when you come back to enjoy all that Japan has to offer. This week, there will be a break in the rainy season and it looks like it will be very very hot. Please take good care of your health and enjoy the rest of your trip. Thank you again. Yumi

“On day alone in Tokyo ”
I had one day alone in Tokyo to get a lay of the land before meeting up with a larger group. I luckily paired with Shu, who showed me around and made me feel at home! I felt like a true local. He was so friendly and totally understood that I wanted to visit neighborhoods that were more ‘local’ for an authentic visit. He navigated the trains so we could cover a lot of ground! Everywhere from Ginza to Shibuya and beyond. He expertly steered me toward all the Japanese foods to try, sampling some tasty treats at the Tsukiji market and amazing Japanese curry in Shimokitazawa. If you are fortunate enough to book him you’ll have a great experience and enjoy his chill vibe!
