One day trip to Hakone taking kinds of public transportation
Hakone is a good place to see Mt. Fuji, historical assets, beautiful nature, dynamic volcano scenes, to take hot spring bath and to enjoy kinds of transportation systems. Although Hakone has a lot of place to visit for two or three days, we can even enjoy Hakone for a day trip. Views of Mt. Fuji is not guaranteed but Hakone has attracted international tourists since 150 years ago.
Meeting Point
At your hotel in Tokyo or Yokohama.
Start: I'll pick you up at your hotel. You can choose how to get to Odawara, Shinkansen bullet train or Odakyu Romance-car.
To get to Hakoneyumoto : Hakoneyumoto is one of the major gate town to Hakone area. We take train if you choose Bullet Train. If your selection is Romance-car, you don't need to transfer at Odawara Station. The train bound for Hakoneyumoto directly.
Change to bus : The bus goes along the ancient highway.
Option No.1 : We stop over from the bus and walk stone pavement which used to be a major highway in the Edo era. This option takes about 40 minutes. There are some tough climbing up and down.
Lunch : Moto-hakone-ko is the terminal of the bus we rode. It's a good place to have lunch. You can have good soba, buckwheat noodle here. If you'd like to save the time, you can get some onigiri rice ball and eat them in the ship.
Option No.2 : Walking the avenue of cedars and seeing famous checkpoint called 'Sekisho' in the Edo period. The option takes about 30 minutes.
Sightseeing cruise : It's a good timing to take photos of Mt. Fuji, if you are lucky to see the mountain. The ship arrives at Togendai.
Hakone Ropeway : We ride the ropeway to Owakudani.
Owakudani : You can feel the active volcano and eat Kurotamago, black egg. The eggs are boiled in a hot spring water. Hydrogen sulfide in the hot spring makes eggshells black. The white egg skin appears when you peel the black shell. It is said that, your lifetime extends seven years each time you eat one black egg here.
Hakone Ropeway : We ride the ropeway again to Sounzan.
Transfer to Cable car : To Gora.
Transfer to mountain train : This is the best mountain train in Japan. It is proud of minimum radius of curvature, steepest gradient and three switchbacks. The maximum gradient is 80 per mill. It's fun to be riding.
At Hakoneyumoto Station : Change to ordinary train.
Option No.3 : Seeing Odawara Castle. It's not so famous than Himeji Castle or Matsumoto Castle, but it's possible to get image of old castle. The option takes about 40 to 60 minutes.
Back to Tokyo : Bullet train or Romance-car.
Ending Point
At your hotel in Tokyo or Yokohama.

Tour Important Information
This tour is scheduled to stay Odawara and Hakone area for about five hours. The time taking transportations are about three hours. Remaining two hours are available to use for options, lunch and shopping.
