The overall plan for a day in Hiroshima: Join me on a very memorable stroll through the history and culture of the "shrine island", designated one of the three most scenic sites in Japan and a World Heritage SIte, before returning to Central Hiroshima to tour Peace Memorial Park, it monuments and museums or, if desired, I am happy to discuss customising your tour to include other attractions.

At your hotel in Hiroshima, or greet you on your arrival at Hiroshima Station.

MIyajima (shrine) Island and a range of its beautiful ancient structures (an optional view from Mt Misen).

Tour the fabulous and historical Itsukushima Shrine, and Daishoin Temple, set amidst landscaped gardens, dotted with statues

Ground Zero, Atomic Bomb Dome, Peace Memorial Park and Memorial Museum

Begin at the Hypo-centre and set the stage for the history of the terrible event that ushered in the end of hostilities of the eWW II and proceed to a tour of the whole park and its memorials and to the Peace Memorial Museum and its exhibits covering all aspects of the event and the atomic weapon.

Ending Point

We will head straight to Miyajima and enjoy a guided tour of its historical religious and cultural structures then after lunch head to Central Hiroshima stopping first at ground zero and the Atomic Bomb Dome then I will lead a guided tour through the park and its monuments and to Peace Memorial Museum, sharing history and facts.

Important Information

I am very familiar with leading tours throughout Japan so on occasion, I would be happy to create a bigger experience in other parts of the country if you would like to discuss directly with me. ***Please note that this is a three-stage process: We would agree on destinations and activities to be included. 2. I would compile an overview. 3. If that is accepted, the guest agrees to receive a detailed itinerary including information about attractions, activities and transit details. **Depending on the guest's length of stay and the time required to produce the tour itinerary document the guest may be quoted a fee of my hourly rate up to a maximum charge of (8) eight hours and if satisfied, to agree to accept that (subject to some reasonable amendments), the agreement to receive the itinerary would be a binding contract to agree to pay for the itinerary with no further obligation to accept it as a tour offer. **Please note that once step three has been started the guest agrees to the payment of the discussed fee.

IMPORTANT

**Repairs: Great Torii Gate is currently under repair expected for an unconfirmed period of time. . During this period, the gate is surrounded by scaffolding and is currently not really satisfactorily visible.

***The order in which locations are visited may change on the day for the benefit of the most appreciable experience for the guests.

**Please wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes

Amazing Hiroshima Trip

Hugh is an awesome guide. We had an amazing experience exploring the place with hugh. He was informative, cordial, super cooperative and very good company. He invested allot of time ahead of the trip to plan it properly to ensure we have a smooth experience given we were travelling with a toddler and both my parents having Mobility constraints. It was my fathers dream destination during his Japan visit and I am glad we did it in an organised manner with Hugh.

Hi Waqas family! Thanks for the wonderful review. It was an absolute pleasure spending the two days with you all and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Do let me know if you need any of the images I have for your souvenir collection. Best, Hugh

A fantastic day and tour, enjoyed by all

We found Hugh to be a wonderful guide, with a fantastic knowledge of the area and local culture. We put ourselves completely in his hands and were thrilled with our tour. He is fluent in both English and Japanese, and his affable and engaging nature makes him the perfect guide for both small or large groups. For any Aussies visiting Hiroshima- this is your guy - don’t look any further! Thank you Hugh for a brilliant day. We can’t recommend you highly enough!

An Amazing and Unforgettable visit to Hiroshima and Miyajima

I was initially conflicted while considering various tour guides and debated if it will be worth choosing a guide who is not Japanese but I am so happy that my concerns were unfounded. Hugh has a warm and friendly demeanor, great sense of humor and he is a walking encyclopedia. We enjoyed our conversations with him while he guided us around. We felt that our day was filled with special experiences, may it be food, or a temple or a shrine or just a deer walking by. Our children, 3 and 6 year-old had equally good time with him. We highly recommend him.

Hugh C.

Hello Hina! Thanks for the glowing review. It was a pleasure. Wishing you all a wonderful year ahead. Best, Hugh .

Facinating Hiroshima and Miyajima Island

Hugh was a superb guide with lots of information and understanding of the events that shook Japan and the world on August 6, 1945. This is a must-see place for solemn reflection on the horrors of war and the peace that has followed. The sights of the temple on Miyajima Island were also a very enjoyable to visit and hear Hugh's stories on the history. I would recommend Hugh to any traveller to this area. You'll get a lot more appreciation for this area with a guide than you would without one.
