Through it was destroyed by the atomic bomb in 1945, the castle was faithfully reconstructed in 1958.
Today, Hiroshima Castle houses a museum that offers insight into the city's samurai history, the castle's original structure, and the surrounding area's development. The five-story castle tower provides panoramic views of the city, blending its historical roots with modern-day Hiroshima. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a picturesque place to visit, Hiroshima Castle is a must-see.
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is a powerful tribute to the victims of the 1945 atomic bombing and a symbol of hope for global peace. Located close to the epicenter of the blast, the park is home to several important monuments, including the Atomic Bomb Dome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Cenotaph, which holds the names of those who perished.
At the heart of the park is the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, which offers a moving and educational experience. Through exhibits of artifacts, photographs, and personal stories, the museum details the devastation caused by the atomic bomb and its aftermath, while promoting a message of peace and nuclear disarmament.
The park's serene atmosphere invites both quiet contemplation and remembrance, making it a must-visit for anyone coming to Hiroshima.

“Hiroshima in half a day.”
We were glad to be able to do a half day customized guided tour with Kay. Her knowledge of Hiroshima and its history made the tour come alive. Her English is excellent. She met us at the train which was extremely helpful since we were coming in from Osaka for the day. As part of our customization, she took us to a wonderful okonomiyaki restaurant for lunch. Yummy.
