Meeting Point

At your hotel or Hiroshima Station

Miyajima (Mt. Misen, Miyajima Shrine, Daishoin Temple...)

MIYAJIMA; the island of Gods...full of historical buildings and beautiful nature, especially the gorgeous Shinto Shrine with Grand Torii gate on the sea is just stunning. UNESCO Site as well. You may grab some local food and snacks to taste at the Omote Sando Shopping Street!

Central Hiroshima (Peace Memorial Park, the atomic bomb dome, the peace museum ....)

In Hiroshima you visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park located in the area that used to be the political and commercial heart of the city, before the bombing. Many monuments you see in the park serve as reminders that peace should not be taken for granted. The A-Bomb Dome, the remains of the former Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, was one of the few buildings left standing after the atomic bomb exploded. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well. Would you like to fold paper cranes and donate them to the Children's Peace Memorial?

Reviews

“A most enjoyable morning discovering excellent sake!”

Following our tour of Peace Park, we took a second tour with Mayumi, to Saijo - Sake Town, Mayumi took any stress out of the journey as she guided us via tram and train to Saijo, then through the streets where the sake factories sit, recognisable at a distance from their tall chimneys. We gained an understanding of the local history of sake in Saijo, one of Japan's premier sake regions, as well as the process of its production. Although many shops were closed in the lead up to their annual sake festival (which we unfortunately will miss), we still saw many displays regarding the history, and tasted sake at two historic producers, experiencing a fascinating variety of flavours. We found this tour both interesting and relaxing, and enjoyed Mayumi's delightful company as well. Thank you so much, Mayumi!

Hi Fiona again, I am truly honored to have had the opportunity to serve you both as your guide. Indeed, most of the sake breweries were closed as they were busy preparing for the large-scale Sake Festival taking place next week. However, when I watched you both carefully and thoughtfully tasting the different kinds of sake, almost as if you were sommeliers, and sharing your impressions with each other, I was deeply moved by the respect you kindly showed for Japanese food culture. I only wish you could come back again next week for the festival! LoL. I also truly appreciate the wonderful conversations we had on the train, where you kindly shared so much information and your perspectives with me. It made our time together even more meaningful and enjoyable. You had only just arrived in Japan and were still dealing with jet lag, on top of that, experiencing the pain in your ankle, yet you still came all the way to Japan and Hiroshima, and spent these precious two days with me. I cannot thank you enough for that. I sincerely hope you both will have a wonderful time in Miyajima tomorrow as well! Thank you again for these two memorable days. It was truly a pleasure and an honor to spend them with you. Warmest regards, Mayumi

“An informative and meaningful tour, and an excellent introduction to Hiroshima”

We had an excellent guided tour with Mayumi from the moment she met us in our hotel lobby. She is an intelligent, knowledgeable, and considerate guide. Visiting Peace Park and the Peace Memorial Museum is a sombre and moving experience, and Mayumi guided us through all the sites clearly and informatively, navigating more efficiently than we could have done alone, ensuring we missed nothing. As a local, her knowledge of Hiroshima added depth to our tour, and emphasised that Hiroshima is now a city that actively strives for worldwide peace. Finishing our tour with Okonomiyaki was an excellent choice. Thank you Mayumi for an engrossing start to our journey through Japan.
