    Introduction

Brief introduction of Kamakura and overview of this tour

  • 09:10 AM

    Great Buddha

This statue was made in the 13th century, which has been the symbol of Kamakura.
It looks great sitting out in the open since its worship hall was lost by an earthquake in the 15th century.
The Buddha is Amida Nyorai who helps people to reborn in Heaven.
I will explain the ranks statues in Buddhism, which will help you appreciate Japanese temples.

  • 09:30 AM

    Hese-dera Temple

This temple was started in the 8th century.
Its main statue is Kannon Bosatsu or Goddess of mercy with eleven heads to save many people at once.
There are many Jizo Bosatsu to comfort the miscarried fetus on the way to its main area.
It has beautiful Japanese gardens and observatory of the Pacific Ocean nearby.

  • 10:00 AM

    Inamura-gasaki Beach

If it is very fine, you may take Enoden line for 2 stops to see Mt. Fuji from this beach.
Since this is a recorded online tour, you don't have to be lucky to see Mt Fuji.
If you come here in the future, you will find a cozy restaurant for lunch and may try an Onsen (hot bath) next to the restaurant.

  • 10:10 AM

    Hachiman-gu Shrine

Hachiman-gu Shrine was founded by Minamoto family who started Kamakura period from 1185.
This is a Shinto shrine for the samurai as it worships three divines of battle.
Shinto is a Japanese native religion before Buddhism was introduced from China.
These two religions had been combined into one until 150 years ago when Meiji Emperor governed Japan.
So most Japanese follow the traditions of two religions.

“ Two great days in Tokyo ”

We are so grateful for two amazing days in Tokyo. We saw SO MUCH that we could not have managed by ourselves especially with the complicated subways! Yuki took us to so amazing spots that we could not have known about or seen so quickly in two days.

Yuki:

Dear Debbie, Thank you for taking my tour. I am very happy if you enjoyed it. Please give my best regards to Dave, too. Yuki

“ Kyoto be Tokyo ”

An awesome day in Kyoto followed by some Tokyo highlights .. Yuki was an awesome guide - very knowledgeable, knew the best restaurants, public transport system, Japanese history and culture .. we enjoyed an awesome 2 days with him :) Thanks !

Yuki:

Dear Andrew, Thank you for taking my tours. I was very much upset when I found that we were waiting at different places. But we met just before the departure of the Shinkansen and saw Mt. Fuji from the window of the train. We delayed for the tea ceremony in Kyoto, but you made it through and arrived Kinkaku-Ji temple before the sun set. It was a memorable tour for me, too. Please give my best regards to your family. Yuki

“ Meiji Shrine, Imperial Palace Gardens and Senso-Ji temple ”

We had an excellent day with Yuki. He was very well organised and prepared a very nice full day itinerary for our family. He organised Passmo travel passes for us all and navigated us around the Tokyo metro and rail network with ease. We visited Meiji Shrine, Imperial Palace Gardens and Senso-Ji temple. As a special treat for our girls (8 and 10 yo) he took us to a Owl cafe where we could have a hot coffee and the girls could get up close to owls, lizards, meerkats, chinchillas, hedgehogs and other animals. We also went to a Udon noodle restaurant for lunch - once again an excellent choice from Yuki. We had a great day and learned a lot at the same time as Yuki was very knowledgeable on everywhere we visited. Thank you Yuki - we really enjoyed our time with you today.

Yuki:

Dear John, Thank you for taking my tour of Tokyo. Everything went well and I was very happy to see you enjoy the places I took you. Please have a nice vocation in Japan. Yuki

“ Hakone region Nature guide not necessary ”

The weather was unpredictable but we would, as a result, have appreciated the guide to have been more flexible and client responsive. Information lacking on geology of the region, artists and architect of the Picasso museum. I have no doubt the guide will be of more value for a city tour!

Yuki:

Dear Karin, Thank you for taking my tour. I did my best to make the tour enjoyable for all of you, but it did not work on the day in Hakone. Best regards, Yuki
