Nikko is best known for its vast and rich nature as well as many famous sightseeing spots, including historical shrines and temples which are registered as World Heritage sites. As Nikko used to be the sacred land of mountain worship, many people visit the place for its distinctive mystical atmosphere.

Nikko is famous for beautiful autumnal leaves, so it can be very crowded in October and November. We should avoid visiting on weekends around that period if possible. We may have to skip some places if the traffic is very heavy.

We had a fantastic two days with Makiko - she was so efficient and helpful and informative. We will definitely recommend her to everyone who plans to travel to Japan. Having a wonderful guide made all the difference to our visit. Tokyo is a special place and Makiko was the icing on the cake!!

The day after arriving in Japan we arranged to have a tour of Kamakura and the following day a half day tour of Tokyo. Both of these were with Makiko. Makiko was recommended to us. We found her to be very pleasant to spend time with. She is knowledgeable with regards to the sites we visited but also on the broader aspects of Japanese culture. She was accomodating to our particular needs. We visited some temples and shrines which were enhanced by the information provided by Makiko. We particularly enjoyed the soba noodle restaurant Makiko took us to. We arranged these tours as an introduction to our 2 weeks in Japan. We are now on our own to make the most of our holiday. Makiko has offered for us to sms if we have any further questions which crop up during our visit. I think this is over and above her commitment to us. I would very much recommend Makiko to guide others wishing to enhance their experience of Japan.
