You might think, “Winery in Tokyo?” But the history of winemaking in Japan started in the 19th century. High-quality wines are produced in Japan and some labels have won the gold medal at an international wine competition in France. Let me introduce you a wine tour in Tokyo. The wineries are small. There are no vineyards. But it can be enjoyed as a half day fun trip inside Tokyo.

What to Expect

If you are wine lover, the best way to discover Japanese wine is through tours and tastings.

Can you do it in Tokyo? Yes, you can!

In this half day Japanese wine tasting & winery tour, we visit three urban hipster wineries in Tokyo with your tour guide to taste various types of Japanese wines. Your tour guide is Certified Specialist of Wine (SOCIETY of WINE EDUCATORS U.S.A.) and also a professional winemaker in the Unites States.

Japanese winemakers traditionally use two native grape varieties: Koshu, a very light white grape with floral notes similar to Chardonnay, and Muscat Bailey A, a red fruit with a full-bodied nose and a delightful cherry sweetness. Visiting wineries is a pleasant way to search for your favorite while enjoying a variety of tastes.

You are able to taste their wine and walk through the facilities. Come and experience a truly unique glimpse inside a small, working wineries.

Day and Night tour with Taka

Taka was an excellent guide. He helped create a tour for our family of 4, like food tasting at Tsujiki Fish Market and teen shopping at Harajuku, along with giving us information at all the sites we visited. He also showed us the numerous Winter Illumination shows in Tokyo. Since it was our second time in Tokyo, Taka made sure that we did not go to the same place twice. Would highly recommend him for any tour.

Thank you so much for your review, Regan!! I also had a enjoyable time with your family. I think the tour should be flexible as much as possible to my guest's needs and requests on that day. Through a good conversation and relationship between a guide and guests makes easier to understand what you'd like to see and get in my tour. I've kept learning and will enhance my guiding skills for your future visit. Happy New Year!

Great Tour, Bad weather

we met Taka on time at the appointed time in front of our apartment and got on well from the start. taka told us a lot about Tokyo and showed us many great impressive places and buildings, gave us countless tips for the next few days, what else we should see, where to find good food and what to look out for. it was a fantastic day with him despite the bad weather. but also for bad weather taka has many good tips on what to do. thank you taka for the great time with you and the great tip for the Shabu-Shabu, delicious

Taka M.

Thank you for giving me a great feedback about the tour, Timm. I always have a sense of responsibility to being a professional guide. Working for not only myself but also for your happiness. Hope you will have memorable days in other countries as well!

Off the beaten track with Taka

We had a wonderful day with Taka. On a sunny, mild December day we enjoyed the magnificent Rikugien Garden with autumn colors. We headed to Sugamo and “Grandma’s Market“ where we had a delicious lunch of fried oysters, shrimp and pork. We strolled through the alleys of Kagurazaka and ended at an Izakaya in Monzennakacho. Taka put together a perfect itinerary for our group of three who had requested non-touristy destinations! We enjoyed our time with Taka and appreciated his broad knowledge of Tokyo and his expert navigation of the subway system. Thank you, Taka!

Taka M.

Thank you for taking your time to post such a nice review, Cathy. We did not visit touristy places but I’m glad you enjoyed strolling around and appreciating the local areas. Thank you again for sharing fun time with you and your great company. Best wishes!
