This was my first trip to Japan. I had 7 days to visit some of the major tourist attractions. I had looked at several youtube videos and made a list of what interested me the most. I then realized that in order to see these sites, it would be most efficient to have a local guide. I reviewed the many websites having guided tours, but most had fixed itineraries that included some of what I wanted to see, but much that I was not interested in. Then, I discovered GoWithGuide (GWG). Their guides speak English, have extensive knowledge of the areas visited, but the most important characteristic is that although they offer standard tours, they are willing to modify the tour or create a new tour that allows you to see what you want to see. In this way you are not just shuttled from place to place with a time limit. As long as you stay within the time established for the tour, you can stop as long as you wish at a particular site, adjusting the schedule accordingly. In other words, the tours are flexible according to what you want to see, and not the on and off the bus for a few photos and then off to the next place. Yukiko-san was our guide for places that I wanted to visit in Tokyo. When I sent her an email to enquire about the tour I was amazed at the prompt reply. Within one hour she responded. Unfortunately the day that I wanted a tour she was not available, then within a few minutes she replied that she would change her personal schedule to accommodate my tour. When I told her what I wanted to see, she was happy to compose a tour that met my desires, but also made great suggestions on other places to visit. The entire process was like working with a friend to create an itinerary that would be best for all. The morning of the tour Yukiko arrived to greet us at our hotel. She presented our itinerary, helped us to obtain our Pasmo card, and then efficiently guided us around Tokyo to visit the Cherry Blossoms at Shinjuku Gyoen National Gardens, Shibuya Scramble Crossing, Hachiko the dog statue, Gotoku-ji Temple, and the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, the second largest in the world, and the only one built new, where we had lunch. Along the way, Yukiko pointed out several points of historical and tourist interest. I especially appreciated her presentation on Buddhism prior to entering the Buddhist Temple. At each stop I could stay as long as I wanted, and then compensate for the time by modifying the schedule….PERFECT!! Just what I wanted. The tour was to end at the Shibuya Scramble area, but Yukiko, realizing that we would get lost, guided us back to our hotel. There she presented us with her own booklet containing the itinerary, other sites to see, restaurants, how to use the trains, a train map and a map of the area around the hotel. She also presented a small gift, and a card recognizing the wedding of our son on the following day. A very nice gesture. So, Yukiko is a wonderful person and guide. The tour was more like a friend taking us around the city. Since I was not interested in the long lines at the Sky Tree, Yukiko suggested visiting the free observation deck in the Government Building just across the street from the hotel. The view from there was fantastic, with the entire panorama of Tokyo before you. Only problem that day was that Mt. Fuji was hiding in the clouds. I am already planning my next trip to Japan and I sincerely hope that Yukiko will be available to guide us to the many other places to see in Tokyo. I am certain that you will be more than pleased with her tours as well. Domo arigato gozaimashita! Yukiko....mata ne!
I remember what you said to me at the end of tour at the hotel. I really appreciated all of your words on this review. I'm sure this Japan trip became a very special for your family with a full of joy. I am always welcome you and look forward to meeting you again in the future! Domo Arigatou, Mata Oai shimashyo!
Yukiko was a great guide and thought of everything in advance related to having one in our party in a wheelchair. Yukiko wore a traditional Kimono and shared a lot of the history and culture of Japan. She also knows the best spots to see the cherry blossoms, which were in full bloom. Thank you Yukiko! We will never forget this once in a lifetime experience.
I had a great time with your family. Your warm words are priceless and thank you so much. I cherish the memory of our tour with beautiful cherry blossoms. Domo Arigato Gozaimashita!
What a superb day, one we will remember and cherish forever. From planning our day to fulfilling on it, Yukiko guided us through! Very knowledgeable - we learnt so much and gave meaning to what we were seeing. Lots of different aspects of Tokyo we would never have found if we had tried to navigate ourselves. Thank you so much.
Thank you very much for your heartfelt words! I am very happy to work with you about your tour from the beginning to the date which is possible to make only for you. I always cherish the motto "This meeting would be an once in a lifetime opportunity for both of us" in my job. What really matters is not the tour itself, but how much I can be sincere for the guest. Have fun and enjoy the rest of your days in Japan!
Our first day of trip in Tokyo has been great and awesome because of Yukiko. She is a professional in tour guiding service. She always ensure that our family are able to get the best in all our experiences. She even extended to helping us buy my kid's favorite toy and many more requests during the whole day. Much more, I am so glad to have been accomodated by her as she is one of the sought for guides in "Gowithguide." All the best Yukiko. Thank you so much :-)
