About Tour Guide Chiaki K.

Welcome to Japan! My name is Chiaki. I’m a government licensed guide interpreter, a wife and mother of two grown-up children. I’ve been living in Tokyo for 30 years so I know the area well.

If you don’t want to miss popular “must see” places, wish to eat a variety of Japanese popular and delicious food, have particular interest in Japanese theatrical arts, architectures, gardens, tea ceremony and “kawaii” characters, or are tired of tourist spots and like to see the real life of people in Japan, I can help you.

My goal is to help you to make your stay in Japan as memorable and fulfilling as possible. If I can serve you to make your special trip more special, it will be my pleasure.

Reviews

Wonderful way to see Tokyo

Wow, what an amazing time we had today! Four of us enjoyed the tea ceremony which was lovely, and kitchen street but as well as that we walked along the river to see the cherry blossom, had a Japanese lunch and were shown shops specific to the items we sought. Our go with guide Chiaki was wonderful! She went over and above to show us the things we asked for, took photos of us altogether, was attentive, and took us back to our hotel even though it was way past the time she was meant to spend with us. I cannot recommend this way of seeing Japan highly enough!! We had what equated to a personalised private tour for a very reasonable rate! We felt safe and able to ask questions as Chiaki translated everything for us. She was informative about the things we saw and has made our time in Tokyo truly special and memorable.

Thank you so much Garth, for your fantastic review! I’m truly delighted to hear that you had wonderful days together with me. It was a pleasure spending time with all of you, from the Tsukiji Market on the first day and Asakusa, tea ceremony to Kitchen Street, and especially our walk along the river enjoying the cherry blossoms (although it wasn’t fully blossomed). Your warmth and enthusiasm made the days very special for me too. I sincerely appreciate your recommendation and hope you will carry many wonderful memories of Tokyo with you and enjoy the cruise trip. I would love to welcome you again on your next visit! Please send my best wishes to Jackie, Mike and Maureen! Thank you again!

Chiaki is an absolute angel!!!

Absolute 10/10! Would book her again in a heartbeat, just so we could hang out! She was so accommodating! Shortly before meeting Chiaki, one of our group had a emergency hospital visit where they discovered they had clots in their leg and were prescribed blood thinners. It was much more difficult for them to walk around than our schedule originally planned for. One message to Chiaki and she had it covered! She suggested some adjusting to our plans for less walking. When it came time to go, she took us on alternate routes so we could use subway elevators and escalators! I didn't even have to think to ask, it was a total life saver! Chiaki was above and beyond prepared! She had bags for our trash. (there are very few trash cans in Japan out on the street) She even had napkins and wet hand wipes for when we were trying different street foods! She even went out of her way to visit the super potato store (an old video game store for the nerds) on her own time to check it out before we even arrived! Our group of six liked to split up and re-group a lot which Chiaki handled like a champ! She even took one of our group to find labubus for his grandkids back at home. (I was extremely grateful as he had been bugging me about that for weeks!) She was also amazing at slowing down when the group needed, but could absolutely fly through the subway station when it was time to go! Chiaki also gave my partner a quick lesson on how to navigate the subway system in Tokyo. She had a print out of the subway maps and everything! With her lessons my partner was able to guide us on a few shorter trips using the subway without the assistance of Google maps! By the end of our second tour day with her we were sad to see her go! She is very kind, considerate, and takes her role as a guide very seriously. But just to be clear, she's not afraid of a good laugh and is a very fun person to be around! If we hadn't been leaving the next day I absolutely would have booked her again!!

Dear amazing Mazie, thank you so much for your incredible and thoughtful review! I’m truly touched by your kind words. It means a lot to me. You must have posted it right after you arrived at home in Michigan. Thank you! Glad to know you are safely back home. I’m just very happy I could help adjust the plan so everyone could enjoy the days safely and comfortably. It was such a pleasure spending time with your fantastic group! I really enjoyed your energy, flexibility, and all the fun moments we shared along the way. I’m happy I could help with the little things. In fact, Super Potato was a fantastic place for me, too, and even tracking down Labubus was fun! Thank you again for your kindness, laughter, and for making our time together so memorable for me as well. I was also sad to say goodbye! I truly hope we can meet again someday. Please say hello to Jeffrey, David and especially Janet! I hope her blood clots will be cleared and she will be OK. Arigato and take care!

Excellent tour of Tokyo with Chiaki

We had a great tour with Chiaki! She did an excellent job communicating with us before our tour, in order to understand our interests and develop a personalized tour. She checked in with us several times before our trip, and even helped explain how/where to get Suica cards when we arrived. We booked our tour with Chiaki for our first full day in Tokyo, which was a great way to learn the public transportation and our way around the city. Chiaki met us where we were staying, and then brought us to the beautiful and peaceful Kiyosumi Japanese Gardens, and then to the Fukagawa Fudodo Temple to observe the fire ritual. We would not have been able to navigate the process of entering the fire ritual without Chiaki, nor understand what was happening during the ritual without Chiaki. Chiaki was prepared with sheets that explained what was happening as we observed each part of the ritual. It was an amazing experience! After the fire ritual, she brought us for ramen, which was excellent. After lunch, we explored a quiet, non-touristy part of Tokyo with old-town atmosphere, where we walked through a market, cemetery, and visited Nedu Jinja. Chiaki spoke excellent English and was easy to understand. We had a great tour with Chiaki and it was a great way to spend our first day in Tokyo!

Thank you so much for your wonderful and thoughtful review! I’m truly happy to hear that your first full day in Tokyo was such a positive and memorable experience. And thank you for your kind words about my guidance and explanations. It truly means a lot to me. I’m very glad I could help you start your trip with confidence using the transportation system. It was very thoughtful of you to post such a fantastic review to me because I know you’ve just returned home in Minneapolis and must be busy for everything like laundry and checking mails. Thank you so much! You must have enjoyed the trip to Mt. Fuji, Kyoto and Hiroshima. I’m sure that your brilliant kids learned a lot from the journey. It will be their precious memories traveling Japan with you. Thank you for the Trader Joe’s bag and candies! My granddaughters loved them! Please send my best wishes to John. I hope to see you again in the future! Take care!
