¥3000 for transportations for guide (including round-trip fare from guide's to your hotel)

What‘s not included

Costs for foods & drinks, entrance fee, for you and guide.

Transportations for participants.

Please note that above costs are needed on the day of the tour.

Tour Important Information

1) Before you book, I will be very appreciated if you kindly contact me first to avoid booking me without understanding what my tour is like.

2) This is not a bus tour or private-car tour. Please note that main means of transportation in this tour is your foot(!) and public transportations.

3) Sometime it takes time to design itinerary, so I am appreciated if you book this tour at least by a week in advance of the date of the tour.

4) I only make contact with future participants of my tour, not with mediators (such as tour company personnel), to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.

“Superb Guide!”

Akira N. is extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, engaging and kind. Our tour of the more authentic neighborhoods of Tokyo started with the magical Hosokawa Garden. On to Zoshigaya neighborhood where we visited the intact 300 year old temple of Kishimojin complete with Tokyo's oldest candy store. Akira brought the neighborhood to life with his engaging stories and impressive grasp of history. We explored the more traditional neighborhood of Sugamo where we enjoyed a delicious Teishoku (Japanese set meal). Our tour finished in the narrow alleyways of Yanaka where we enjoyed observing the lifestyle of the common people of Tokyo. Akira was always thoughtful and thorough with his explanations of the sites and engaged in his answers to our questions. He was patient, considerate, and informative throughout our seven hours together. Although we requested a tour with a more "local" feel, he was very willing to create a tour of the major sites as well. Dear Paul, Thank you so much for the great review. I am so happy that you enjoyed my favorite part of Tokyo, the beautiful quiet garden in autumn colors, the old temple filled with happy laughter of families (of three generations!) celebrating children's healthy growth or divine blessing, warm exchange with lovely grandma in the store, delicious teishoku in the local diner in the old school Tokyo vibes, and etc, etc, etc... I hope you could get the idea of what it is like to be one of the locals in this city. Through walking in the streets and alleyways of different neighborhoods, and taking trains and street cars, I hope you could feel something that you cannot get from tours hiring car visiting only flamboyant instagramable iconic spots just being busy without being in each of the moments. “A Fascinating Guide for a Fascinating City”

Akira is a native of Tokyo and knows it perfectly. He escorted us on the Tokyo subway, by taxi and also by foot to a variety of temples and shrines, where he explained customs of prayer and respect. As we traveled around the city, he gave us practical instructions about how things work. He took us to various craft shops including ceramics, paper and fabric, as well as to interesting restaurants for lunch and dinner. Conversation flowed easily and was very informative. Akira is personable, exceptionally well-read in Japanese literature and history, and we learned a tremendous amount about Japan from him, while enjoying every minute. We give him our highest possible recommendation. Thank you for everything, Akira!
