Konnichiwa!
I am Gulay, I have been working as a professional guide since 2008, and have received my training at the Department of Tourism Guidance for 4 years. I moved to Spain for one year (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) and worked as a volunteer and mentor in EVS organizations (European Voluntary Service) But then my interest in Japanese culture led me to my current carrier in Kyoto for 3 years. Guiding is my passion, I believe guiding for guests that you never met before from totally different countries is great chance to know people better to improve your skills. As your guide, I will be pleased to share my experience of guiding with you and will do my best to make your holiday a memorable one.
I am here to explain the local culture and traditions and give guests other local insights.
“Shopping Tokyo Style”
What a fabulous time; Gulay kindly shared a history of the evolution of Tokyo, visited a beautiful Shinto shrine & had the opportunity to pray & make a wish. Then we wandered through the Main Street in Ginza before exploring the small streets with the chance to stop and appreciate the huge variety of architectural styles so perfectly integrated together. We sat & drank matcha & ate cookies whilst watching the local people enjoying their weekend away from work; waiting in lines for treats clothes, tasty snacks or at restaurants, wandering the streets in their gorgeous garb or chatting on corners with friends. We looked in on the clothes shops from vintage, to quirky & cute to luxury. Yes, I was tempted; there are things you can only see & buy in Tokyo & the design is so cool. We headed back & Gulay was so kind in helping me plan my evening & book a visit to teamlab planets & suggested I try out a ramen restaurant. It was the perfect day.
“Vintage European Drsigners. Unique Japanese Designers. This tour has it all!”
We had very little time in Tokyo and were overwhelmed by where to go. We had already taken tours of the historical parts of the city and its numerous shrines. We wanted to see modern day, high fashion Tokyo and Gulay gave us exactly that. We hit high end vintage designer stores, cool edgy Japanese designer stores, got to enjoy people watching and the fun styles on the street and the modern cool unique architecture of these fashionable neighborhoods. A great overview to counter balance our days learning about samurai, wars, etc. Gulay was lovely, helpful and flexible based on our requests. Thank you, Gulay!
“Amazing Day with Gulay !”
I requested a private tour of West Tokyo and Gulay did not disappoint. She picked me up from my hotel and took me to all my requested places and more. Do not hesitate to book with Gulay. She is very kind and personable. Our day was even better than I anticipated.
