Visiting Japan for the first time can feel exciting — and a little overwhelming. This friendly introduction tour is designed to help you feel comfortable, confident, and more connected to Tokyo and Japanese culture from the very beginning of your trip. Itinerary

Meeting Point
I will meet you at your hotel in Tokyo
Asakusa
Our first stop will be Asakusa — one of Tokyo’s most historic and atmospheric districts. Here we will visit Sensō-ji, Tokyo’s oldest and most famous Buddhist temple, founded nearly 1,400 years ago. As we walk through the lively Nakamise shopping street and temple grounds, I will introduce you to Japanese traditions, temple etiquette, local beliefs, and the fascinating mix of old and modern Japan that makes Tokyo so unique.
Lunch
Meiji Shrine + Harajuku
Next, we will visit Meiji Jingu — one of Tokyo’s most important Shinto shrines, hidden within a peaceful forest in the heart of the city. Dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken, the shrine offers a calm contrast to Tokyo’s busy streets. During our visit, I will introduce you to Shinto traditions, shrine etiquette, and the role spirituality still plays in everyday Japanese life.
After visiting Meiji Jingu, we will take a walk through Harajuku — one of Tokyo’s most vibrant and contrasting neighborhoods. Known for youth culture, fashion, and unique street atmosphere, Harajuku offers a completely different side of Tokyo. From lively streets to elegant Omotesando, we will explore how tradition and modern trends coexist in contemporary Japan.
Shibuya
Our final stop will be Shibuya — one of Tokyo’s most energetic and iconic districts. Famous for the world-renowned Shibuya Crossing, this area offers a glimpse into Tokyo’s fast-paced modern life. Here we will experience the city’s vibrant atmosphere while exploring its streets, learning about daily life in Tokyo, and discovering useful tips and recommendations for the rest of your stay in Japan.
Ending Point
I will help you to get back to your hotel

About Tour Guide Dmitrijs B.
I have lived in Japan for 12 years so far, including 7 years in Tokyo and 5 years in Kamakura. I know these two places very well and would be glad to share my knowledge of Japanese history and culture with you.
I speak four languages, including Japanese, and I enjoy meeting new people. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or requests.
P.S. English is not my native language. I received a TOEFL iBT score of 108 many years ago, which corresponds to the advanced C1 level. However, there may still be some accent or occasional vocabulary slips. I appreciate your understanding :)

“Excellent Guide”
Our family had an absolutely wonderful experience with Dmitrijs during my parents' recent trip to Tokyo. Since it was their first time navigating Japan, we wanted someone who could make them feel at ease, and Dmitrijs exceeded every expectation. He was incredibly kind, personable, and professional from start to finish. Beyond his deep knowledge of Tokyo’s history and culture, what really stood out was his ability to make my parents feel comfortable and confident in a completely new environment. He struck the perfect balance with the pacing of the tour—ensuring they saw the highlights without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Dmitrijs also went above and beyond by sitting down with them to review the rest of their Japan itinerary, offering invaluable local insights that helped shape the remainder of their trip. Most importantly, my parents enjoyed his company immensely; he wasn't just a guide, but a friendly face who made their visit truly special. If you are looking for a knowledgeable and thoughtful guide in Tokyo, we cannot recommend Dmitrijs highly enough!

Self-awareness Zen walk “Iza Kamakura — it’s time to go to Kamakura”
This walk, led by a local artist, emphasizes a quiet, meditative, and meaningful experience. It deliberately avoids crowded tourist spots and streets, instead offering a tranquil route through the green hills that gently slope toward the ocean. Along the walk, we will visit four temples — three of which belong to the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism — including one founded by Eisai, the monk who introduced Zen Buddhism and culture of green tea to Japan.

Once upon a time in Asakusa: Handicraft & Samurai
The Edo period, when Tokyo became the capital, is often seen as the peak of Japanese art and culture! Temple architecture, woodworking, woodblock prints, porcelain... I will use traditional handicrafts to illustrate the history and lifestyle of the people of Tokyo. Who were the samurai? What difference with a Ninja? How were armors crafted? I am also going to teach you all you need to know about those fierce warriors in front of a large collection of authentic weapons & armors.
