Kagawa Tour Guide - Mika S.

Japan

My name is Mika, a local guide living in Takamatsu city. I have been an English teacher, but the Setouchi International Art Festival awakened me to the joy of guiding. The more I learn about the Seto Inland Sea region, the more I am impressed by its life, history, architecture and art works. So, I would like to show you the spectacular scenery that you may have missed in guidebooks alone, and the sights that have yet to be introduced in guidebooks. In Kagawa Prefecture, island tours are also very popular, such as Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima, which are sacred places for contemporary art, and I think you can better understand the connection between the history of the islands and art by touring with a guide. Of course, I would also like to introduce fresh harvest from the Seto Inland Sea, delicious local food, and shopping for folk crafts in the Takamatsu shopping arcade, which will satisfy you fully as a highlight of your journey.

These are the examples of my tour: Kanazawa - Shirakawago - Takayama Takaoka - Gokayama - Shirakawago - Takayama Toyama - Tateyama Kurobe Alipne Route - Omachi (Nagano Pref.) During the tour I like to provide simple explanations about Japanese history, and small tips for using the Japanese language on your request. Hi! I'm Sho! I live in the center of Nagasaki city and work as a YouTuber, podcaster, and tour guide specializing in sharing the charms of Nagasaki. Actually, I was born and raised in Yokohama, near Tokyo, and worked for about 5 years in Tokyo. However, I fell in love with the culture and history of Nagasaki and moved here in 2020. Nagasaki has a rich history of international exchange and friendship, established about 450 years ago as an international trading port in Japan. Since then, many people from all over the world with diverse cultures and values have visited this city. I love these stories and histories of Nagasaki. Nagasaki is often associated with the sad history of the atomic bomb, which is, of course, an important part of this city's history, but Nagasaki has much more than that. I'm looking forward to introducing you to the many charms of Nagasaki!

Hi there! My name is Haruka. I just back from a big journey in Sydney, Australia! I love to travel and try new experiences. I visited Hawaii, Bali, Bangkok, Taiwan, and all around Australia! Also, some parts of Japan. However, I was born, and raised around Tokyo(I moved different area when I was young). I love animals, beaches, snorkels, free diving, nature, coffee, yummy foods, and sharing different cultures! Before I moved to Australia I worked as a Paediatric Dental Hygienist then moved to Australia I did a few different jobs such as Au pair, waitress, dental assistant/receptionist etc... Once I got back to Tokyo, I was thinking so much that what I want to do and what I’m good at. I like to show and explain to people and I also realised how amazing Japanese culture is when I see it from outside of Japan. So, that’s the reason why I started this guide job! As I mentioned I did work as a kid's dental hygienist and babysitting job so, I’m very keen to take your family on my tour (of course I’m happy to take any kind of group though). My tour style is very open so if you can’t find exactly what you want to do or something you don’t want to do which includes the plan I’m more than happy to make a special plan for you just shoot me a message! I’m looking forward to showing you around my favourite area of Tokyo!

A wonderful first visit to Japan

We planned a short trip to Japan and decided to stay in Tokyo so we could take in as much of the city as possible. Noriko was very kind, patient and flexible with us. She brought us to many fun places in Shibuya, Ginza, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Asakusa, as well as the cat street district and the Sanrio puroland. She was very informative about the history and customs of the areas we visited. Her guidance was indispensable for us, a family of five who did not have much time to prepare ourselves to speak let alone read the language. She showed us some hidden gems such as a quiet local temple in shinjuku that was rich with history. She found a tiny cafe for us just a block from our hotel, it was somewhat hidden and one could miss it easily. She was understanding when our young daughter was tired on the second day and found other closer things for us to do. We are very happy to have met Noriko-san and hope that she will guide us again if we are ever fortunate again to visit beautiful Japan!

Cheerful guide on a gloomy day!

It was drizzling with grey skies on the day of our Fukuoka walking tour, but Kazue-san lifted our spirits with her cheerful demeanour as she guided us to the various locations and shared info with us. She also provided valuable assistance when we needed help booking tickets for our other activities! Sensing that we needed a break, Kazue-san made a stop at a nearby cracker shop, which was a great idea. Thank you, Kazue-san!

Excellent Guide!

We had a wonderful time on our tour of Tokyo with Hiroshi! He was extremely helpful prior to our tour by providing us with a suggested itinerary and answering all our questions. He is extremely knowledgeable of Japan's rich culture which made the tour more interesting and was able to help us get around the city. He even made a few follow up suggestions for the rest of our trip! Thank you Hiroshi for a wonderful tour and Happy New Year!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I really enjoyed the Tokyo tour with you and your family. We visited Asakusa, Imperial Palace, Harajuku, etc. Asakusa was crowded because it was the end of the year, but we were able to enjoy the atmosphere of Buddhism by drawing omikuji, breathing the smoke of incense at the incense burner, and purifying ourselves at the hand-washing basin. In Harajuku, we visited Meiji Shrine and Takeshita Street, where we were able to experience Shinto, a traditional Japanese religion, and youth culture. My family and I enjoyed the chocolates I received as souvenirs. They were so delicious. Also, a cap is indispensable in the hot Japanese summer. I will use it this summer. Let's enjoy Japanese culture and customs together again when you come back to Japan. Thank you so much for the wonderful day! Hiroshi
