I worked in the Atomic Bomb Survivors Support Division for 12 years until I retired from the local government, and I continue to interact with Hibakusha. Therefore, I have a lot of knowledge about A-bomb survivors, the reconstruction of Hiroshima, and the effects of radiation on the human body, which I can correctly convey to inbound visitors. I have experience in tea ceremonies and calligraphy and am especially good at guiding visitors through tea ceremony experiences. I love to watch baseball games, so I enjoy talking about them with guests from countries where they are popular. I am a volunteer medical interpreter and can respond to visitors' sudden health problems.

Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called "art islands" which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival "Setoushi Triennale". In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Hiroshima's History

“What an insightful experience”

When visiting Hiroshima, you are prepared for a rather serious day considering the tragedy of that place. Hugh, however, managed to make my visit both interesting and fun. He is genuinely interested in not only the history of Hiroshima and Japan but also enthusiastic about culture and people in general. His many years living in Japan give you also to chance to learn more about Japan‘s day to day culture in a way Japanese themselves might have trouble to explain. I enjoyed my time with Hugh enormously and would immediately book a tour with him again.
