“TOMOE is highly recommended by us!”
We just spent two full, busy and wonderful days with TOMOE in Kyoto. She was kind, attentive, knowledgeable, well organized, and speaks wonderful English. She worked hard to find restaurants that accommodated our dietary requirements and was patient with our ordering! We are so fortunate to have had her as our guide. She showed us a lot of the city, both what you’d expect as a tourist and also quieter streets where locals live. She also knows transportation very well and made getting on and off the buses and trains and purchasing tickets very easy for us.

Dear Adam and family, Thank you very much for your warmhearted review! I had wonderful 2 days with you, such a nice family in Kyoto. I enjoyed visiting flea market at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine ( 'Tenjin san'), Tenryuji Temple, Bamboo Forest and Monkey Park on the 1st day, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizudera Temple, Gion and Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion) on the 2nd day. Sharing the lunch time with you also gave me precious experience. Thank you very much for booking me as your guide in Kyoto. TOMOE

Dear Rowena, Thank you as always for introducing such wonderful guests to me. This time, in particular, the guests were deeply interested in Japanese culture and history, lively, and engaging in conversation, making the long journey from Kyoto to Nara feel remarkably short and enjoyable. I will continue to do my best to provide hospitality. I look forward to continuing our partnership. Thank you very much. Mana
“Caring, Thoughtful & Flexible Guide in Kyoto!!!”
Ryuichiro was the best guide! I planned a Japan trip for my family of 7. Ages 77 to 9 years old. Plans changed daily and everyone had their agenda on what to do. Ryuichiro was great to adapt to everyone’s needs. He is patient , easy going and let us take our time when we were at the sites. Ryuichiro is a great translator, he also took us to the local spots where we didn’t see many tourists which was great! Not only did he plan our day he suggested excellent restaurants , reserved our dinner reservations and gave us suggestions on things to do outside of our “tour day”. Ryuichiro is a great guide and will be great for your Kyoto tour needs!! Thank you Ryuichiro for being so accommodating!

Dear Caroline Thank you very much for yesterday. It was an honor to join you for a wonderful day of your family trip. Wishing you a safe journey for the rest of your trip and a Happy New Year! Mine

Absolutely! Kyoto has achieved the perfect balance of remaining close to its historical roots as Japan's original capital, rich in culture and customs, while including modern conveniences and tourist-friendly services. It's one of Japan's most tour-conscious cities, next to Tokyo.
That's a tough one! Kyoto has history, slow living, and breathtaking landscapes. Osaka has fantastic food and modern conveniences and is slightly more affordable.
Osaka is great for;
Kyoto is ideal for;
The greatest thing about these two cities is that they're just a train ride away from one another. So whichever you decide, the other option is only 15 minutes away.
Kyoto is often considered more beautiful than Tokyo because of the visually stunning architecture and Edo period buildings, especially those that highlight the nagare-zukuri style. It’s almost like a time machine. City lovers will consider Tokyo more beautiful thanks to its glowing billboards, high-end hotels, buzzing restaurants, and nightlife. Our recommendation? See both and decide for yourself. Tokyo and Kyoto are only 2 hours apart.
