A comfortable, relaxed tour of the monuments and memorials of Peace Memorial Park learning about the fascinating history of Hiroshima, a flavour-packed lunch=a local teppan grill specialty nor be missed followed by a stroll through one of Japan's three premier Japanese sake brewery districts learning about sake and how it's made and sampling the excellent brews.

Meeting Point
Your Hotel, guests arrival point (Hiroshima Station, or cruise ship berth )
Hotel or Guest's arrival point.
We will head straight to Central Hiroshima stopping first at "ground zero" and continuing nearby to the Atomic Bomb Dome and onward with the guided tour through the park and its monuments to the Peace Memorial Museum, sharing the history and facts working our way towards the Peace Memorial Museum.
LUNCH / TRANSIT
Lunch options of a Hiroshima specialty, or head straight to the sake town and lunch there over a sake brewer's specialty hot pot. Either or is a scrumptious repast!
In either case, we will enjoy a lovely train ride through the countryside to the sake town before lunch or after according to your lunch preference.
SAKE TOWN (SAKAGURA)
A relaxed stroll through the Saijo sakagura (brewery district), one of the three major Japanese sake brewery regions in Japan, visiting breweries, learning all about the brewing methods at three of four breweries, along the way, sampling their fine Japanese sake.
Saijo Station
Concludes the tour experience and then escorted on the train back to Hiroshima
Ending Point
At your hotel in Hiroshima or escort you to your return departure from Hiroshima Station.

Tour Important Information
In both locations strolling a total of approximately 3 km at an easy pace, but comfortable walking shoes are recommended. All drinks and meals are included. I will escort you back to Hiroshima.
Children over may accompany a parent ot guardian but tasting is restricted to guests over eighteen.
Once I send a requested tour offer I hold that date for 36 hours. Please note that I supply tours for several companies and I will close that date to enquiries via other providers for that period; if a booking is not made I reopen my availability. I am contractually obliged to accept bookings made for dates open on a provider site calendar; as such, I cannot guarantee availability until a booking is set. Thanks for your understanding.

I am Australian, from Sydney originally, but my life with Japan and its culture and history spans 40 years, and I have been a Hiroshima resident for 25 of those 40 years.
I joined GoWithGuide in 2019, but I have led many tours in Hiroshima and more widely throughout metropolitan and regional Japan, sharing conversations about the unique society, its fascinating culture, and history. I also have written several tourism blogs for inbound tour companies and also the Hiroshima Prefectural Tourism Bureau.
I speak fluent Japanese and I have immersed myself in the experience of living here in modern and traditional culture and spent many years studying martial arts Aikido and Iaido. I also have a strong interest in Buddhist teachings. My Japanese calligraphy work over the years has been received recognition and several awards and commissions both in Japan and elsewhere.

“Magnificent experience”
The knowledge that Hugh has acquired over all the years in Japan and in this city, in my opinion, surpasses even that of the local guides. He explains all the facts of the places in such a good and fresh way that we Westerners can understand the transition to this wonderful culture without problems. “Historical Tour”
Hugh was nothing short of exceptional during this tour. We had asked for a historical tour and that is exactly what we received. A Canny Day in Hiroshima
The overall plan for a day in Hiroshima: Join me on a very memorable stroll through the history and culture of the "shrine island", designated one of the three most scenic sites in Japan and a World Heritage Site, before returning to Central Hiroshima to tour Peace Memorial Park, it monuments and museums or, if desired, I am happy to discuss customising your tour to include other attractions but that may exclude components of the itinerary. There is an option to do this tour by private vehicle.
