Myoho-ji Temple
Our first stop, Myoho-ji, welcomes us with its peaceful ambiance, offering a perfect introduction to Kamakura's spiritual heritage. As we meander through the temple grounds, the whispers of history and spirituality merge, setting a reflective tone for the day.
Jomyo-ji Temple
After a quick bath in the greenery of Kinubariyama mountain, we'll visit Jomyo-ji, famed for its serene tea room and stunning garden views. Here, the harmony of traditional Japanese aesthetics and nature's beauty invites contemplation and tranquility, enriching our understanding of Zen principles.
Zuisen-ji Temple
Our path then leads us to the enchanting Zuisen-ji, nestled in the heart of a picturesque valley. Known for its exquisite rock garden and floral displays, Zuisen-ji offers a tranquil retreat, allowing us to connect with nature's artistry.
Tenen Hiking Course
As we ascend the Tenen Hiking Course, the landscape unfolds in breathtaking vistas of rolling hills and vibrant foliage, a testament to Kamakura's natural allure. This trail not only challenges the body but also soothes the soul, offering panoramic views that promise to be the highlight of our journey.
Kencho-ji Temple
Reaching Kencho-ji, the oldest Zen training monastery in Japan, we're transported to an era of spiritual discipline and artistic expression. The sprawling temple grounds and the serene atmosphere provide a glimpse into the life of Zen monks, enhancing our appreciation for their quest for enlightenment.
Meigetsu-in Temple

Kita-Kamakura Station
Concluding our tour at Kita-Kamakura Station, we reflect on a day filled with discovery, spiritual enrichment, and natural beauty. This 12km journey, with approximately 3 hours of walking interspersed with moments of reflection at each temple and a leisurely 40-minute lunch, promises not just an exploration of Kamakura's landmarks but an immersion into the tranquility and profound beauty that define this historic city.

Tour Important Information
* The route is around 12km in total, 3 hours if walked non-stop!
* There are a lot of temples on the itinerary, but we'll try to keep them to fairly brief visits (you won't feel 'templed out')
* If there has been heavy rain in the preceding days, the route may be altered for safety
* In principle, we will aim for a bento picnic lunch, but this is weather permitting. Also, don't hesitate to let me know in advance if you have something you'd like to eat or simply prefer eating at a restaurant, and I'll make arrangements
