After a quick bath in the greenery of Kinubariyama mountain, we'll visit Jomyo-ji, famed for its serene tea room and stunning garden views. Here, the harmony of traditional Japanese aesthetics and nature's beauty invites contemplation and tranquility, enriching our understanding of Zen principles.
Our path then leads us to the enchanting Zuisen-ji, nestled in the heart of a picturesque valley. Known for its exquisite rock garden and floral displays, Zuisen-ji offers a tranquil retreat, allowing us to connect with nature's artistry.
As we ascend the Tenen Hiking Course, the landscape unfolds in breathtaking vistas of rolling hills and vibrant foliage, a testament to Kamakura's natural allure. * The route is around 12km in total, 3 hours if walked non-stop!
* There are a lot of temples on the itinerary, but we'll try to keep them to fairly brief visits (you won't feel 'templed out')
* If there has been heavy rain in the preceding days, the route may be altered for safety
* In principle, we will aim for a bento picnic lunch, but this is weather permitting. Also, don't hesitate to let me know in advance if you have something you'd like to eat or simply prefer eating at a restaurant, and I'll make arrangements
